The debilitating conditions that people face today such as poverty, sickness etc are an abnormally according to God’s plan for us. According to Genesis 1:26-28, when God made man, He gave him the ability to dominate his circumstances and environment. He was placed on the earth to demonstrate God’s ability to rule. When we realize the awesome potential the Creator has placed within us, our hope is ignited. When we discover the promises our Heavenly Father has made to us in His Word, we believe the storms of life are for a season.
The discovery of God’s promises and our innate abilities to succeed come by revelation. In other words, revelation gives hope in the midst of life’s storms. The life-giving power of revelation is expressed in an old Jewish proverb which says “Where there is no redemptive revelation of God, the people perish.” People who live by revelation have their hope intact even when their world is shaking. Hope gives them the courage to claim the victory over circumstances that have held them bound.
One man who weathered the storms of life through the hope that revelation brings was Joseph. This was a man who was sold by his brothers to the Ishmaelites. He became a slave in Egypt. Just when things were looking good for him, he was framed for attempted rape and was locked up in prison. Through the hands of providence, he became the Prime minister of Egypt. Through it all, Joseph never gave up on the great future God had showed him. The knowledge of his destiny made his hope undaunted in the face of hopeless circumstances. This can be your testimony when you seek revelation.
