What is Your God?
By Rev. Dean Beaty 3/13/11
Exodus 20:3-5a “Thou shalt have no other gods b efore me.Thou shalt
not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that
is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water
under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them…” (KJV)
Men do not worship God in the way they should.
He is substituted for things made out of wood.
Things made of painted steel and with a steering wheel.
A house and grassy lawn or things that they can feel.
Dependence upon God is never on their mind.
They are self-sufficient and to God’s truth they’re blind.
Sin must be acknowledged before the Lord’s our God.
Anything else but that will make our faith a fraud.
Until one sees himself as fully lost in sin,
He’ll never come to God and by Him born again.
All else before the Lord are idols in our heart.
Our worship of the Lord will quickly soon depart.
I knew a family who loved to snowmobile.
The Lord took second place and pleasure was their zeal.
Then as the months rolled by and spring came back again,
No time to worship God and they were trapped in sin.
Replace their snowmobile with that which you love best.
And soon you’ll find it too is now you’re heart’s first quest.
Some people turn to faith because they’re in a scrape.
Our faith should be much more than just a fire escape.
Matthew 22:37-38 “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God
with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” (KJV)
