Jesus specifically warned us that we must: “[b]eware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.” Matthew 7:15. Speaking of the last days, He also said that: “many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.” Matthew 24:1. In addition, He declared that, in the last days: “false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect. But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.” Mark 13:22-23.

These are but a few of the warnings from the Word of God concerning false prophets. So, explicit are the warnings that the body of Christ should take heed and give an ear to this important topic, lest any be deceived and led after false prophets and counterfeit Christs. Lest we feel too secure in our faith and ability to avoid deception, remember that Jesus said such shall be the lure of these false Christs and false prophets that they may even seduce the "elect".

Presented here is the biblical test of a prophet. Because I spent the better part of a lifetime in the Mormon Church before coming to the True and Living Christ and I have personal experience with it, this discussion applies the biblical test of a prophet to the two primary founding leaders of Mormonism, the self-proclaimed prophets, Joseph Smith and Brigham Young. While we discuss the test of a prophet as it applies to Mormonism, this same test may, and should be, applied to any and all who claim to be a prophet (past, present or future).

Joseph Smith claimed to be a Prophet of God and the Mormon Church continues in that belief and declares to the world that Joseph Smith was indeed a true Prophet of God and that he restored the one and only true church to the earth. The Mormon Church further proclaims that Eternal Life in God's Kingdom can only be achieved by and through the Mormon Church and its teachings that were "restored" through Joseph Smith and further declared and carried on by Brigham Young and each of the Mormon Church's successor prophets and apostles. By nature, a true prophet “prophesies” to speak the word of God. As such, Mormons believe that Joseph Smith and Brigham Young were God's literal mouthpiece, as have been each of the successive Mormon Prophets (presidents) of the LDS church to the present time.

It is hard to imagine a bigger and more serious claim than that of being a Prophet of God. There have been many True Prophets and Apostles that have declared God's Word which we now have in the Bible. But even in the Old Testament, God warns of False Prophets that we should be on the lookout for and beware of. We are also repeatedly warned by Jesus and His apostles in the New Testament that many False Prophets and Apostles will come in the last days. But how can we know for certain whether an alleged Prophet is truly of God or not?
The good news is that God has not left us without guidance. In order to prevent deception by False Prophets, God gave us His specific direction and standard on how to Test a Prophet to determine whether the claimed Prophet is/was a True Prophet of God or not.

Why is it important to know whether Joseph Smith, Brigham Young and other Mormon Prophets are truly God's Prophets or not? Because Joseph Smith claimed to have been visited by God the Father, Jesus Christ and other heavenly messengers and that he, through the gift and power of God, restored to the earth the one and only true church to the earth. After Joseph Smith's death, Brigham Young claimed to have the authority and prophetic calling to lead and to carry on the Lord's one true church. Because of the nature of their claims, if Joseph Smith and Brigham Young were True Prophets of God, we should indeed listen to their words and follow what they declared in the name of the Lord. Indeed, the Mormon Church declares that [there is] "no salvation without accepting Joseph Smith."

"If Joseph Smith was verily a prophet, and if he told the truth...no man can reject that testimony without incurring the most dreadful consequences, for he cannot enter the kingdom of God." Joseph Fielding Smith, Doctrines of Salvation, vol. 1, p.190

If, on the other hand, Joseph Smith, Brigham Young and the successor Prophets of the Mormon Church are not True Prophets of God, we should not go after what they have falsely proclaimed.

Because the Mormon Church was founded by Joseph Smith and continued with Brigham Young at the helm after Joseph's death, the question of the validity of their prophetic status and teachings is paramount to Mormonism. Indeed, the truth or falsity of the Mormon Church rests primarily on the validity and veracity of these two self-proclaimed LDS Prophets.

So what does the Word of God say is the true Test of a Prophet?

“But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die. And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken? When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.” Deuteronomy 18:20-22.

Jeremiah 28:9 also tells us that: “when the word of the prophet shall come to pass, then shall the prophet be known, that the LORD hath truly sent him.”

So the prophesies of the “prophets” themselves are, according to the Word of God (and according to reason), key in determining whether the prophet is of God or whether he has spoken presumptuously (without God’s direction and power).

Since there have been exceedingly few prophecies made by Mormon prophets since the time of Joseph Smith and Brigham Young and because the very foundation of Mormonism itself rests on the true Prophetic calling and lives of these two men, it is especially important to carefully look at these two men’s prophetic utterances.

So, let us consider Joseph Smith’s and Brigham Young’s Prophesies to see what they in fact prophesied.

To begin, there were numerous prophesies made by Joseph Smith that clearly fail the biblical test (and it only takes one false prophesy to make a false prophet according to God’s standard).

Here is but a short list of a few of Joseph’s many failed prophesies (without going into detail):

-Joseph Smith's Prophecy that Christ would return within 56 years (did not happen)

-Joseph Smith's Prophecy that the temple would be built in Missouri within Joseph Smith's Generation (did not happen)

-Joseph Smith's Prophesy that all Nations would become involved in the American Civil War (the Civil War which was obviously going to happen at the time the prophesy was made, did not involve any nations other than the Northern and Southern U.S. states)

-Joseph Smith's Prophesy that the United States Government to be overthrown “in a few years” (did not and still has not happened)

-Joseph Smith's Prophesy that the U.S. Congress shall soon be broken up as a government (did not and still has not happened)

-Joseph Smith's Prophesy about finding Treasure in Salem, Massachusetts to pay church debts (no treasure was found)

-Joseph Smith's Prophesy that Pestilence, Hail, Famine & Earthquake to Destroy the Wicked (and that some then living would be alive when it happened – still hasn’t happened and are none are now living)

-Joseph Smith's Prophesy that the Temple to be Built in Zion (Missouri) “in this generation” (didn’t happen – and another church still owns the temple lot)

-Joseph Smith's Prophesy that there would be a buyer for the Book of Mormon copyright to raise money and sending a group out to find him and sell the Book of Mormon copyright (there was no buyer as promised - Joseph's answer to the question of why this prophesy failed to be fulfilled proclaimed that some prophesies are of God and some are of the devil - this one, according to Joseph, was from the devil)

-There were also numerous and substantive changes to the Joseph Smith's "revelations" recorded in the Book of -Commandments (later called the Doctrine & Covenants)

-There have also been numerous and substantive changes to the Book of Mormon text which was supposed to have been translated by the Gift and Power of God and which was proclaimed by an Angel of God to be a True and Correct Translation.

-The Book of Abraham turns out to be a false translation (when the Papyri from which it was "translated" is found and is examined by Egyptologists)

Thus, we can clearly see that Joseph Smith miserably fails the Test of a Prophet.

Once, when a prophesy made by Joseph Smith had failed and the men to whom it pertained inquired as to why the prophesy did not occur as prophesied, the question was raised to Joseph. David Whitmer (one of the 3 Witnesses to the Book of Mormon and early church Apostles) explained that Joseph’s reply was that:

"Joseph did not know how it was, so he enquired of the Lord about it, and behold the following revelation came through the stone: 'Some revelations are of God: some revelations are of men: and some revelations are of the devil.'" AN ADDRESS TO ALL BELIEVERS IN CHRIST, David Whitmer, 1887.

So, according to Joseph Smith, the self-proclaimed Prophet himself, some prophecies are of the devil -- and that does not make that man a False Prophet. Huh???!!! So, how are we to know when the Prophet is really the devil's mouthpiece and when he is God's mouthpiece? Can a True Prophet legitimately be both? Sounds like very treacherous territory, doesn’t it? Certainly, according to the biblical standard, one false prophesy and the prophet is false and not to be adhered to.

“All the prophets testify about him [Christ] that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.” Acts 10:43

So do Joseph Smith and Brigham Young's Prophesies and teachings proclaim that everyone who believes in Jesus Christ will receive forgiveness of sins through his name, as the Word of God proclaims every prophet shall?

Well, let’s take a look and see how they compare to this standard set by God:

“For unbelievers we will quote from the Scriptures - "Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God." Again - "Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh, is of God." I WILL NOW GIVE MY SCRIPTURE - "WHOSOEVER CONFESSETH THAT JOSEPH SMITH WAS SENT OF GOD TO REVEAL THE HOLY GOSPEL TO THE CHILDREN OF MEN, AND LAY THE FOUNDATION FOR GATHERING ISRAEL, AND BUILDING UP THE KINGDOM OF GOD ON THE EARTH, THAT SPIRIT IS OF GOD; AND EVERY SPIRIT THAT DOES NOT CONFESS THAT GOD HAS SENT JOSEPH SMITH, AND REVEALED THE EVERLASTING GOSPEL TO AND THROUGH HIM, IS OF ANTICHRIST. . . .” Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses 8:176 (September 9, 1860).

“[N]O MAN OR WOMAN IN THIS DISPENSATION WILL EVER ENTER INTO THE CELESTIAL KINGDOM OF GOD WITHOUT THE CONSENT OF JOSEPH SMITH. From the day that the Priesthood was taken from the earth to the winding-up scene of all things, EVERY MAN AND WOMAN MUST HAVE THE CERTIFICATE OF JOSEPH SMITH, JUNIOR, AS A PASSPORT TO THEIR ENTRANCE INTO THE MANSION WHERE GOD AND CHRIST ARE - I with you and you with me. I cannot go there without his consent. He holds the keys of that kingdom for the last dispensation - the keys to rule in the spirit-world; and HE RULES THERE TRIUMPHANTLY, for he gained full power and a glorious victory over the power of Satan while he was yet in the flesh, and was a martyr to his religion and to the name of Christ, which gives him a most perfect victory in the spirit-world. HE REIGNS THERE AS SUPREME A BEING IN HIS SPHERE, CAPACITY, AND CALLING, AS GOD DOES IN HEAVEN. Many will exclaim - "Oh, that is very disagreeable! It is preposterous! We cannot bear the thought!" But it is true.” - Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses 7:289 (Oct 9, 1859) (emphasis added).

"THERE ARE SINS THAT MEN COMMIT FOR WHICH THEY CANNOT RECEIVE FORGIVENESS IN THIS WORLD, OR IN THAT WHICH IS TO COME, and if they had their eyes open to see their true condition, they would be perfectly willing to have their blood spilt [sic] upon the ground, that the smoke thereof might ascend to heaven as an offering for their sins; and the smoking incense would atone for their sins, whereas, if such is not the case, they will stick to them and remain upon them in the spirit world. I know, when you hear my brethren telling about cutting people off from the earth, that you consider it is a strong doctrine; but it is to save them, not destroy them." Journal of Discourses Volume 4 Page 53 (1856) (emphasis added).

"I do know that there are sins committed, of such a nature that if the people did under the doctrine of salvation, they would tremble because of their situation. And furthermore, I know that there are transgressors, who, if they knew themselves, and the only condition upon which they can obtain forgiveness, would beg of their brethren to shed their blood, that the smoke thereof might ascend to God as an offering to appease the wrath that is kindled against them and that the law might have its course. I will say further; I have had men come to me and offer their lives to atone for their sins." Journal of Discourses Volume 4 Pages 53-54 (1856)

So, according to Brigham Young, not everyone who believes in Jesus Christ will be saved. Not only that, a belief in Joseph Smith is also necessary for Salvation. In addition, even the Blood of Jesus is not sufficient to cleanse some sins. (do some research on the Doctrine of Blood Atonement that was taught by Brigham Young)

What about Joseph? What did he say about salvation.

When Joseph Smith was asked 'Will everybody be damned, but Mormons'? [Smith replied] 'Yes, and a great portion of them, unless they repent, and work righteousness." (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 119).

So, according to Joseph Smith, not all who believe in Christ will be saved. Only Mormons will be saved (and even many of them may be damned).

Was Joseph Smith greater than Jesus Christ? Here's what Joseph Smith himself had to say:

"Come on! ye prosecutors! ye false swearers! All hell, boil over! Ye burning mountains, roll down your lava! for I will come out on top at last. I have more to boast of than ever any man had. I am the only man that has ever been able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam. A large majority of the whole have stood by me. Neither Paul, John, Peter, nor Jesusever did it. I BOAST THAT NO MAN EVER DID SUCH A WORK AS I. The followers of Jesus ran away from Him; but the Latter-day Saints never ran away from me yet...When they can get rid of me, the devil will also go." (Joseph Smith, History of the Church, Vol. 6, p. 408, 409) (Emphasis added).

Oh really?

Joseph Smith's boasting of his own greatness is much contrary to John the Baptist, a True Prophet, who bore witness of Christ saying, “This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.” John 1:15. "He must increase, but I [must] decrease." John 3:30. Joseph Smith, in stark contrast, boasts that the work he did was greater than what Jesus Christ, the Son of God and Lord of Lords and King of Kings, himself did. Do Joseph's words sound like the words of a witness and servant of Christ? (Remember that Christ taught that "he who exalts himself shall be abased." Matthew 23:12)

Remember that Jesus himself declared: “upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” Matthew 16:18. He also declared that: "Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away." Luke 21:33; Matthew 24:35.

So, even though Christ himself declared that the gates of hell would not prevail against the church that he built (upon the rock of faith in Christ -- as declared by Peter that Christ is the Son of the Living God), Joseph Smith declared contrarily and taught that the gates of hell did prevail against the church established by Christ (moreover, Christ’s words did pass away, according to Joseph and Mormonism, as the “plain and precious truths” of the bible were lost and the church supposedly fell into complete apostasy - also contrary to Christ’s declaration in Matthew 24:35). But, according to Joseph Smith, Joseph did what Jesus Christ himself could not do, he established a church and Joseph’s followers did not run away from him (despite the fact that virtually all of the Book of Mormon witnesses, about half of the early 12 apostles and many early church leaders had deserted him). Joseph Smith declared that the gates of hell would not prevail against the church that he (Joseph) established. He also declared that he restored the words of Christ that did pass away (the plain and precious truths that were lost from the bible) when he translated the Book of Mormon and when he "translated" the bible by the power of God to fix all the errors and to restore what was lost).

The bible is clear, consistent and unequivocal in numerous passages, that salvation is to be had only through Christ Jesus and through faith on Him alone. A few examples:

Jesus answered, "I AM the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except THROUGH ME. John 14:6

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.

. . . .

I AM THE DOOR: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I AM come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” John 10:1;9-10

That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, YOU WILL BE SAVED. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. Romans 10:9-10

“[W]hat must I do to be saved? And they said, BELIEVE ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, AND THOU SHALT BE SAVED . . .” Acts 16:30-31

"[K]now this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed. He is " 'the stone you builders rejected, which has become the capstone. SALVATION IS FOUND IN NO ONE ELSE, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved." Acts 4:10-12

Pretty clear, consistent and unambiguous, isn’t it? Jesus alone is the way, the truth and the life. Faith on him is the only path to salvation and eternal life.

By contrast, here is what the Mormon Church proclaims:

[There is] "NO SALVATION WITHOUT ACCEPTING JOSEPH SMITH. If Joseph Smith was verily a prophet, and if he told the truth...no man can reject that testimony without incurring the most dreadful consequences, for he cannot enter the kingdom of God" (Joseph Fielding Smith, Doctrines of Salvation, vol. 1, p.190) (Emphasis added).

"THIS CHURCH is the ensign on the mountain spoken of by the Old Testament prophets. IT IS THE WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE" (Marion G. Romney, Conference Report, April, 1961, pg. 119) (Emphasis added).

“This is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. THIS IS ‘THE ONLY TRUE AND LIVING CHURCH UPON THE FACE OF THE WHOLE EARTH’ according to the word of revelation [D&C 1:30]. HERE LIES THE TRUTH. Here lies the priesthood. HOLD TO THE CHURCH. Do not ever lose sight of the fact that THE CHURCH MUST EVER REMAIN PREEMINENT IN YOUR lives if you are going to be happy as the years pass. Never let yourselves be found in the position of fighting The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You cling to IT and be faithful to IT. You uphold and sustain IT. You teach ITS doctrine and live by IT. And I do not hesitate to say that your lives will be the richer and the happier because of that. You cannot find happiness fighting the work of God. Those who have done so have gone down to a dismal end” (Gordon B. Hinkley, Ricks College regional conference, Rexburg, Idaho, 29 Oct. 1995) (Emphasis added).

So, we can clearly see that, not only did numerous prophecies that were made by Joseph Smith fail in their fulfillment (which alone demonstrates that he cannot be a true prophet of God), the teachings of Joseph Smith and the Mormon Church were and are in direct contradiction to the Word of God and contradict what God declares that every prophet would declare – “that everyone who believes in him [Christ] receives forgiveness of sins through his name.” Acts 10:43.

[B]ut there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach ANY OTHER GOSPEL unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. Galatians 1:1-8

But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth ANOTHER JESUS, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive ANOTHER SPIRIT, which ye have not received, or ANOTHER GOSPEL, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him. 2 Corinthians 11: 3-4
For such are FALSE APOSTLES, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:3-4

Thus, we receive very clear and strong warnings from Christ’s apostles that we not follow after any Prophet or Apostle that preaches any gospel that is different and not in accord with what they clearly taught. As such, we would do well to carefully study and learn what the Lord’s apostles preached.

And, again, what Gospel did the apostles preach? They preached, without any ambiguity at all, that salvation is by and through faith in Christ Jesus alone.

“[W]hat must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved . . .” Acts 16-30-31.

Any gospel that teaches any path to salvation other than through faith in Jesus Christ alone fails the scriptural standard of truth (many are the declarations by Christ and His apostles that He alone is the way to life and salvation).

You will often hear it said in the Mormon Church that Joseph Smith was a True Prophet, but he was also an imperfect man. But Christ, in warning of false prophets declared that “by their (the prophets') fruits ye shall know them.”(Matthew 7:15-16). So, what the man proclaiming to be a Prophet does is in fact relevant.

The Lord, in Jerimiah 23 also warned of Prophets who were adulterers and who walk in lies and commit sin. God declared that He did not send such prophets and warned us not to follow them, because they speak vision of their own heart, they have spoken what He did not speak to them, they prophesy lies in my name . . . after the deceit of their own heart.” Jeremiah 23:9-40.

So, in addition to the “fruits” that are the Prophecies that the alleged prophet declares, the “fruits” of the Prophet himself (his character/what he does) are also important indicators.

Just a few items (of the many) to consider (nothing speculative or unverifiable here):

-Joseph Smith was married to at least 33 wives (almost all in were married secrecy and without his wife’s knowledge or consent – contrary to the specific requirements of the polygamy “revelation” in D&C 132).

-Ten of Joseph Smith's known wives were under the age of 20 yrs. (the youngest was 14 yrs. old). Some were promised guaranteed entrance in the kingdom of God for themselves and their families if they submitted and married him.

-Eleven of Joseph Smith's wives were married to other men at the time he married them.

-Thirteen of Joseph Smith's wives swore affidavits stating that they had sexual relations with him as his polygamous wives (sexual relations were indeed a part of the practice of polygamy, even in the case of Joseph Smith).

-Joseph Smith lied about his polygamous/polyandrous marriages in public and even destroyed the Nauvoo Expositor printing press for publishing the truth about these relationships (for which he ended up in Carthage Jail - which also was apparently a major reason behind for his death).

-Joseph Smith had Oliver Cowdery summarily excommunicated for (among other things) publicly stating that he had had Joseph secretly followed and they had verified that Joseph had committed adultery by having a “dirty, nasty filthy affair” with Fanny Alger (a teenage maid who had been living with the Smiths).

-Joseph Smith was convicted in New York as a “glass-looker” / “treasure seeker” for claiming to be able to see buried treasure in the ground by putting a stone into a hat (the same stone that he used to “translate” the Book of Mormon) and hiring himself out as such (he did this for many years – well after the “First Vision” allegedly took place
- no treasure was ever found).

-Joseph Smith had a habit of changing the “revelations” he received and the scriptures which he claimed to have translated and God which he claimed that declared to be true and correct (extensive changes with substantive doctrinal effect - not just minor grammatical changes).

-Many lost their fortunes and were rendered destitute in reliance on Joseph Smith's declarations that if they invested with his bank and his other schemes, they would prosper. (e.g., Kirtland Safety Society Anti-Banking Company, unpaid debts/bankruptcy, etc.)

And the list could go on with much more. Do these sound like the fruits of a man who was a true prophet of God?

As the claimed anointed prophet/successor of Joseph Smith, it is important to consider the prophetic fruit produced by Brigham Young as well. Here are a few items for consideration (again, nothing speculative or unverifiable):

-Blood Atonement: Brigham taught that the only way to repent and receive forgiveness of certain sins is through the actual spilling of the offender's blood (i.e., death). There are documented deaths in Utah at the hands of church leaders in accord with this doctrine taught by Brigham Young. (sins requiring blood atonement included: murder, adultery, lying, stealing, marriage to a black person, breaking covenants) (Mormons, have you ever wondered why D&C 132 makes such a point about it being wrong to “shed innocent blood”? What about blood that is not innocent? – apparently, that was ok and required to show your love for the offender)

-Blacks are cursed: Blacks would never receive the priesthood in earthly life but must wait until after all other children of Adam have received it first, then in the next life they may receive it. Marrying a black person warranted “death on the spot” and “it will always be so”, according to Brigham.

-Brigham proclaimed that the church will lose the priesthood if the priesthood is ever given to blacks. (Spencer W. Kimball apparently ignored this declaration, when blacks were granted the right to receive the priesthood and blessings of the temple in 1978)

-Adam-God Doctrine: Brigham taught that Adam (the first man) was actually God, the Father. (This doctrine was later disowned by the church - Spencer W. Kimball even denied that it had ever been taught, even the though the record is very clear that it indeed was in fact doctrine and consistently taught during Brigham's reign and thereafter)

-Brigham proclaimed that Polygamy Required for Salvation (all who do not practice it will be damned).

-Brigham Young declared that Utah would never be admitted to the Union because polygamy will never cease to be practiced by the church. (the church did cease to practice polygamy and Utah was admitted to the Union)

-Brigham Young unequivocally proclaimed that the consent of Joseph Smith is required before anyone may enter into the Kingdom of God and that confession that Joseph Smith as a Prophet is essential for Salvation. Faith in Christ will not suffice.

-Brigham Young also declared that whoever does not acknowledge and accept Joseph Smith is of the Anti-christ.

-Brigham Young proclaimed that the Civil War will not end slavery. Slavery is of God and it is a blessing to have the negro as our servants. (of course, the Civil War did end slavery)

-Brigham Young proclaimed that the civil war would continue for years and years and will clear the land of Missouri for the return of the saints to their land.

And this list as well could go on with much more.

In sum, let every person examine the truth (not just LDS Church propaganda - look at all the available facts and information) and the Word of God and make their own conclusions. If one does so, the truth will become clear.

The Mormon Church harps over and over in song and word: “Follow the prophet, follow the prophet.” The children sing about following the prophet and looking to him.

The Mormon children also learn the song and are to that: “I am trying to be like Jesus” (kind, loving, etc. - and there's nothing wrong with any of these virtues). But where is the proclamation among the Mormon Church, to put your faith in Christ and live? No, instead, the admonition is to be like Jesus (do good works), but look to the Prophet and the Mormon Church as the source of light and truth. Take your eyes off of the Prophet and you will lose your salvation. Give “Praise to the Man”, cling to the church, be perfectly obedient to the Mormon Church and you may be good enough to receive Joseph Smith's stamp of approval to enter into God's Kingdom at the last day.

No! Christ alone is the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father but by and through him.

"God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake IN TIME PAST unto the fathers BY THE PROPHETS, Hath IN THESE LAST DAYS spoken unto us BY HIS SON, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high." Hebrews 1:1-3.

The Word of God is unequivocal:

Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

1Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.

“[W]hat must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou SHALT be saved . . .” Acts 16-30-31

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved." Acts 4:12

In whom, then, will you put your faith? Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God and His Word, or the church establish by Joseph Smith and Brigham Young? If you study the Word of God (the bible) and the teachings of Mormonism, it will become clear that the two are not compatible.

This test should be applied to any alleged prophet. Choose ye this day whom ye will serve. Your life and salvation hang in the balance. Do not allow yourself to be deceived.

May God bless you as you seek Him in truth.

1. Mormons believe that there is only one prophet that is God’s mouthpiece for the world on the earth at a time. Since the inception of the Mormon Church, that one mouthpiece is the President of the Mormon Church (currently, Thomas S. Monson). The Church is also lead by a first presidency who serve with the Prophet/President of the LDS Church and a quorum of twelve apostles. Each of the apostles and first presidency of the church are sustained as “prophets, seers and revelators” by the Mormon Church membership. But only the President’s prophetic office is operative as the prophet for the church.
