SO

You worked your entire life at a demeaning and meaningless job, so that with retirement there could be some solace from it all but learn your pension fund was bogus, and your company cheated, and there is not one cent available.
So you . . .

Looking forward to a wonderful time with family and friends in celebration of finally paying off the house mortgage, and gaining a long-sought career promotion, at the same time but learn from your family doctor that the tests results are in and the suspected cancer is malignant, giving you less than a year to live.
So you . . .

With joy into this world came your third child, and relief from the anxiety of it all, then you are told that she has Down syndrome, however, with the strange mix of fear and love, you are ready to face forward but learn your spouse has left you for another.
So you . . .

When Charles Mayinard died in Ava, Illinois, in 1997, he was 82 years old. At age 63, he learned that his pension fund would never be available to him and that the job he held was to be immediately eliminated.
So he . . . cursed God, cursed himself, and cursed his family, for the meaninglessness of life and weight of its burdens.
Then, he prayed.
From his first prayer, to his last breath years later, Charles Mayinard founded his own business, adopted 32 World Vision children, and left a fortune of over four million dollars to his wife and family.

When Ken Thompson died in Buelton, California, in 2001, he was 47 years old. At age 46, he learned he had malignant pulmonary cancer, fading the value of a paid-off house mortgage and new job promotion.
So he . . . devolved into a thick depression, of utter despair.
Then, he prayed.
From his first prayer, to his last breath, less than one year later, Ken Thompson sold his house, for a smaller one for his wife, quit his job, took dancing lessons, climbed rock walls, wrote love poems to his wife, read silly and serious books, and took up water painting. Several of his water paintings were displayed in local libraries and galleries.

When Charleen Tower died in Deltona, Florida, in 2008, she was 73 years old. At age 28, she learned her third newborn had Down syndrome and that her husband had left her for another woman.
So she . . . wept away her worth, in tears without end.
Then, she prayed.
From her first prayer, to her last breath many years later, Charleen Tower remarried, had two more children, started a daycare for special needs children, returned to school herself and obtained her J.D. degree to practice law, though decided to teach instead. She wrote three books on raising a child with Down syndrome and hosted a radio spot espousing the same.

What would you want said, about what you did, facing your own, so . . . ?
