Midnight is coming -When revolutions transpire throughout nations. Midnight is coming -When Tsunamis, Tornadoes, Hurricanes, and Earthquakes wipe out countries. Midnight is coming -When governments conspire against its own people. Midnight is coming -When Technology serves as a substitute for intimacy. Midnight is coming -When the race for money, power, and sex, exceed the race of faith. Do you recognize the time? How Do You Measure Time?
A watch is a portable timepiece that measures time. A movement in watchmaking is the mechanism that measures the passage of time and displays the current time. As Christians, we are the movement of God in this Earth. The events that have transpired over these last few years, up until now, have made it more apparent than ever before that Jesus will be returning soon. This is not the time to get weak in carrying the gospel of Jesus Christ. As Christians, it is easy to feel burnout and tired when waiting becomes elongated. Nevertheless, take caution!
In Matthew 24, Jesus is speaking to his disciples regarding the destruction of the temple and the signs of the end of time. In the conclusion of Matthew 24, Jesus advises the disciples to, ”Keep Watch…” In Matthew 25:1-13, Jesus, gives us insight as to what will be going on during this time with those claiming to be Christians. In this passage we are introduced to the parable known as, The Parable of the Ten Virgins. We read that the foolish ones took their lamps with them but did not take any extra oil with them. Proverbs 20:27 NKJV, tells us that the spirit of the man is the lamp of the Lord and Proverbs 20:27 KJV, tells us that The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord. The oil inside the lamp is a representation of the anointing. However, the wise virgins took some extra oil for themselves in a jar. What is the difference between the oil on the inside and the oil on the outside? This difference made the difference between the foolish virgins and the wise virgins.
We learn something important from this parable. The foolish ones had the right spirit for the journey and the foolish ones even had the anointing (i.e. God’s enabling power on the inside) but it began to burn out. Be careful, that when you feel drained and burned out that you do not forget your jar with the extra oil. What is the jar with the extra oil that produces God’s enabling power…it is the oil of gladness! It is hard to be glad when your having to face giants one after the other- giants in your home, giants in your finances, giants in your health, giants in your business, giants in your place of worship, giants in the streets, giants in the work place, and giants in your relationships, and giants in the world. But in 1 Samuel 17, there was a man by the name of David who had to face a giant and he reminds us of something. David reminds us that although the giant can be larger than your are….Giants Do Fall! And so before David even met the ten wise virgins who entered into the door, David wrote, Psalms 45:15, that states, ”With gladness and rejoicing shall they be brought; they shall enter into the king’s palace.”
While the hour is getting late and there is a lot happening in our world that can drain us and leave us for burn out keep your oil with you so that you will enter into the door when Jesus finally Arrives! Until then, with your lamp lit, continue to do the work of Christ and tell, “HELL NO! Not on my Watch!”
