Psalm 119.90

God will have the last word

"Your faithfulness continues throughout all generations; You established the earth, and it stands" [Psalm 119.90 NASB]

Once David had solidly grasped another theological truth, he very often looked at it as a merchant would a rare and extremely valuable diamond from every possible perspective over and over again.

As a new convert I also did that with every verse of the Bible. I took it apart word-by-word and line-by-line and after many years of reading and studying I am still captivated by God's word.

There are some lines in certain pop songs, which seem to have a timeless application. However, every one of God's words endures and is continually relevant and applicable both to this present church age and to those yet to be born-again.

Very often in our lives we come face to face with earth shattering disasters or mindless acts of violence which in themselves deeply affect the faith of the previously unshakeable, or we read about some premature death which involved horrific suffering and we often wonder how God is going to reconcile these dreadful deeds with His perfect will?

Solomon said, "There is nothing new under the sun." [Eccl. 1:9] Is your faith reeling from what has happened to you or to someone else?

We know with positive assurance that God's will shall be done on earth as it is in heaven, so in the interim period let us whole-heartedly depend on His word, which will endure and come to pass regardless of what the forces of iniquity attempt to do. [David McArdle]
