Growing old gracefully ~ that’s a term I have heard over the years and never quite understood, especially now. Gracefully? Heck no, I am going kicking and screaming!
It is not fun to be able to do half of what you used to do in twice the time!
It is not fun to forget to take the pills that help your memory improve, or skip the medication that improves your joints.
So, we hobble down the road of life, wondering if our parents and grandparents surrendered peacefully to aging, or did they put up a valiant battle as well? Did they miss the long walks in the moonlight, running on the beach, lavish meals and dancing until dawn - before they had to worry about joint replacements, bladder incontinence or hypercholesterolemia?
Are they secretly chuckling as they look down upon us, snickering that at last we have gotten our come-up-ence?
Well, I don’t really know, but I know that there is one saying that for sure is true: Growing older ain’t for sissies!
So, I will bite the bullet. I will give one for the gipper, I will do my best today, even if today’s best may well be merely a shadow of what my best was a decade ago.
If you died today, are you absolutely certain that you would go to heaven? You can be! TRUST JESUS NOW
