AUTUMN AFTERNOON
Three sit, sharing
heart thoughts that bridge lost
years of
unbroken silence.
Outside, frothy water booms, falling
over variegated mocha rocks into
white pools
foaming beneath.
Glistening glass surrounds the three, revealing
rain droplets descending like
luminous mosaics
bursting forth.
Pumpkin, citron, and scarlet frame towering windows,
casting golden glow against leaden skies
of reigning
granite clouds.
Cascading kaleidoscopes ~ Autumn leaves
skipping, crisscrossing, floating ever downward,
into emblazoned
quilts below.
Lives rhythmically intertwined once,
then once again,
colorful bursts of joy etched into memories.
Three friends savoring one long,
last afternoon.
