22 Is it lawful for us to pay taxes to Caesar or not?”
To all those who believe on the name of Jesus Christ,
I thought it was appropriate to address the question," is it lawful to pay taxes?" since it is tax season. Certainly this is an age old debate and it is still hotly debated today. Strangely the Pharisees which were the religious folks of that day posed this question to Jesus. I am aware that the original intent in the Constitution in regards to paying taxes was for businesses only and not for a personal income tax and also the Internal Revenue Service is not a government agency but is a branch of the Federal Reserve which is not a government agency either. With that being said let us explore, What would Jesus do? In verse 24 of the Gospel of Luke Jesus states, Show Me a denarius. Whose image and inscription does it have?” They answered and said, “Caesar’s.” 25 And He said to them, “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”
Therefore; paying taxes is a Christian duty regardless of the controversy that is surrounding this issue. Take heed to the warning in Romans:13," 1 Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. 2 Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves."
Pay your taxes people of God...Luke 20:25 And He(Jesus) said to them, “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”
