“Revive me according to Your loving-kindness, so that I may keep the testimony of Your mouth” [Psalm 119.88 NASB]
The concept of natural or spiritual "life" from God permeates these eight verses. God's loving-kindness was the overriding factor in preserving David and his friends. The same is also true in our lives, for God's goodness and mercy covers our existence.
What does your life consist of? As I rode a bus one evening, God let me see inside the woman directly opposite me. As the vision continued, I saw that the woman's life was empty. It was like looking into a vacuum. She was talking a lot about her family, their children and how full her life was, but she was empty on the inside.
As I prayed on my face that night, the Lord said, “I wish we had more men like Jeremiah.”
David's life, as also the Lord's, consisted of doing and completing God's will. Is this also true of you? There are many legitimate demands on our lives but our main purpose is to discover and do the will of God.
Where do we find this out? The answer is on the inside. Jesus said, "If you desire to know you will know." [John 7.17]. [David McArdle]
