THE MESSAGE EXPERIENCED
By Henry Jaegers
ďBut at the end of that period, I Nebuchadnezzar, raised my eyes toward Heaven and my reason returned to me, and I blessed the Most High and praised and honored Him who lives forever, for His dominion is an everlasting dominion And His kingdom endures from generation to generation.Ē (Daniel 4:34, 35)
It appears that God had answered Danielís admonition to Nebuchadnezzar that his period of peace would be prolonged. At least for one year the final lesson to the king was delayed. There was time for him to prepare himself mentally for the time, and now it had arrived.
We can never prepare ourselves for a crisis, but what was to happen was a necessary step in Nebuchadnezzarís faith experience. With proper understanding we can look back and see Godís hand and purposes in our trials. While we are passing through them our vision is usually distorted. Time is necessary for us to see clearly. As he was contemplating the wonders of his kingdom, everything went blank. For seven years Nebuchadnezzar was removed from his kingdom and forced to live in the wild, like an animal. During this time he was not conscious of what was happening and after seven years he woke up praising the God of Heaven. As promised, God restored him to his kingdom and he flourished greater than before.
We cannot foresee the purpose and the processes that God ordains to perfect our faith. Nebuchadnezzar could do nothing to change or prepare for Godís next step. In time our experience will bring forth an understanding that Godís will, Godís ways, Godís timing, and Godís provision are indeed perfect.
