THE MESSAGE EXPLAINED

“And seven periods of time will pass over you, until you recognize that the Most High is ruler over the realm of mankind, and bestows it on whomever He wishes” (Daniel 4: 25b)
Here is the message to Nebuchadnezzar in condensed form. The dream began with the vision of a great tree that grew and encompassed a large area. This speaks of the influence and affluence of Nebuchadnezzar’s kingdom. Next in the dream appeared a messenger from heaven that gave a command to cut down the tree. This expresses the removal of the king by God from His kingdom. Third the tree was not completely removed. The stump and roots were left intact, revealing that this removal was temporary and contained a promise of restoration. The message of the dream was that Nebuchadnezzar would be removed from his kingdom and made to roam in the outdoors like a beast. After seven years He would be restored and the lesson he is to learn is that in verse 4: 25.
That is the explanation to Nebuchadnezzar. But consider the servant Daniel in all of this. First, he was courageous and full of faith by volunteering to interpret the dream. Second, he had great compassion for the king when he realized the horror of it all. Third, he gave Nebuchadnezzar a message that would ease the difficulty that he was to face. Consider these words in verse27:”There fore O king, may my advice be pleasing to you: Break away now from your sins by doing righteousness, and from your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor, in case there may be a prolonging of your prosperity”.
God honored these words to Nebuchadnezzar.
