Nebuchadnezzar responded and said, ďblessed be the God of Shadrach , Meshach and Abednego who has sent His angel and delivered His servants who put their trust in Him, violating the kings command, and yielded up their bodies so as not to serve or worship any god accept their own God. (Daniel 3: 28)
This is quite an astounding statement for one who previously thought that He was God. It was an amazing thing to see the reaction of Nebuchadnezzar as he viewed with his own eyes a genuine miracle. God was able and did deliver just as these three young men testified. The the power of God was demonstrated through the lives of Godís faithful servants. Nebuchadnezzarís statement of faith was immediately followed by a statement and an order. The statement was that there was no other God and to worship any other would have disastrous consequences.
There are many people who like, Nebuchadnezzar, seem to have a firm conviction about the existence and power of God but it is based upon what others have told them. It never was their own conviction based on their experience. Faith is more than a second hand experience based on the testimony of others. Somewhere down the road something must happen that makes that faith personal. Personal faith in God produces Godly Character and an ability to live a life that Glorifies God.
In our next few studies we will discover how Nebuchadnezzar found true faith in the true God.
What about your faith? Is it genuine and active as you feast daily on Godís word and experience His daily blessing?
