"18 For when they speak great swelling words of emptiness, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through lewdness, the ones who have actually escaped from those who live in error.

19 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whom a person is overcome, by him also he is brought into bondage.

20 For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning.

21 for it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them.

22 But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: “A dog returns to his own vomit,” and, “a sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire.”". 2 Peter 2:18-22

In order to catch a rat it is logical to identify the food it loves the most because this would then be used as a bait to trap it.
It is this same allure for what a man is fond of that the devil, that arch enemy of God uses to draw man to destruction.

Sadly this does not just apply to unbelievers alone but most especially those in the church who daily “declare” and “lift up” “holy hands”.
A great number of Christians in today’s church more so than those of old are continually struggling with sins that can lead to disrepute and cause total separation from God.
Apostle Paul asked, “Shall we continue to sin and expect Grace to abound? God forbid!”
This sums up the fact that a certain level is expected of one who has declared for Jesus Christ as Lord and saviour, forsaking and dying to the flesh in several ways moving daily towards the direction of the cross of Christ for the perfecting of the saints in daily communion with God.
Alas, the continual battle that man fights in the flesh has caused total blindness to the spiritual and the spirit realm contrary to the way God would have it be

Man devises daily, new ways of committing great atrocities against God,
Sins of unimaginable magnitude against the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit

Lust and lack of knowledge, “My people perish for lack of knowledge".
This it is that our mortal enemy preys upon to imprison and impoverish the souls of many.

Whoever will break away and get permanent liberty from the clutches of Satan and his cohorts must first identify his own personal failings; the lust of the flesh and desires that war against his relationship with God.

Our weaknesses and deficiencies are amplified such that we even psyche ourselves to believe that we are unable to overcome and triumph over such desires.

The Samson experience; a man
so anointed of God who lost his authority and power in the laps of a woman, who identified her calling but used it in the negative.
Samson eventually lost his sight and life, endowed with so much power as a leader but he towards the end ground grain for sport for his enemies.
If Samson had identified his weakness and fled from "all appearances of evil", he would not have ended in such a shameful manner.

1Timothy 3:1-7
1 This is a faithful saying: If a man desires the position of a bishop, he desires a good work.
2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded, of good behavior, hospitable, able to teach;
3 not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not covetous;
4 one who rules his own house well, having his children in submission with all reverence
5 (for if a man does not know how to rule his own house, how will he take care of the church of God?);
6 not a novice, lest being puffed up with pride he fall into the same condemnation as the devil.
7 Moreover he must have a good testimony among those who are outside, lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

The enemy of God does not sleep, he goes prowling around like a hungry (and wounded) lion looking for whom to devour, he devises the most modern, intellectual and logical techniques to lure us away from our abode of succor, safety and peace in God’s enclave with the ultimate intention to steal, to destroy and eventually KILL us.

God is not a robot-master therefore He does not forcefully restrain us from doing whatever we lay our hearts to do but He lets us know every inch of the way that we are heading in a wrong and possibly fatal direction.
A friend once told me that "......whatever gets the better of a man is his master".
Meaning…whenever those two angels are sitting one on each shoulder and you are drawn this-way-and-that to do this-or-that and you eventually yield to the red looking one with horns sticking out of the sides his head (whether I believe this is a true representation of the devil….is a story for another day!) HAVING DECLARED BY YOUR ACTION, YOU END UP BECOMING HIS SLAVE.

To be a new man, indeed one must begin by self assessing going from there onto personal internal cleansing through prayerful deliverance sessions, not praying amiss by seeking the Holy Spirit’s help in prayer so as to address the foundational cause of the totality of the issue at hand

1Timothy 1:12-14
12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry,
13 Although I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.
14 And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant, with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.

Say the following words in prayer and begin to live the life of a victor:
“Anything in me that is not of God
Burn by fire, the fire from above!”
A friend of mine has a habit of attaching at the bottom of every mail sent out, these words:
"He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep, to gain what he cannot lose." - Jim Elliott

Warning: Exposure to the SON prevents burning!
