As she writes him a letter
She stares at her face
He hurt her too many times before
Last night he threw a vase
The pain and hurt inside her head
Tells her to let go
As she writes him a letter
She tells him what she knows
"I can't live a life of pain anymore
This should not happen to me
I am torn up inside right now
It is time for me to leave
My life and love for you are gone
Just memories will be here
I am tired of the beatings
But mostly of my fear
You said you would never hit me again
Can you explain last night
Why do you hurt what once was love
Now I have to do what's right"
She is leaving him today, right now
Never to turn back
Starting her life anew, somehow
She begins to pack
The courage she has left inside
To make a life for her son
Says nothing can change her mind
It's time for her to run
After she put her son in the car
She left that man this letter
Telling him it's over now
She's making her life better
She looked around one more time
Feeling stronger than ever
Then closed the door behind her
And changed her life forever
