On our front porch we hang the flag of the United States.
Every day come rain or shine, freezing cold or blissfully warm she continues to hang.
She has stayed there throughout the cold arctic winds of winter and the warm gentle breezes of summer, triumphantly declaring her presence for all to see.
She has seen children laughing with joy, and those walking with the weariness of the world.
She has seen the celebrations of life and the tears of loss.
She has seen my son come home from war and him pause to straighten her.
From the first day that she was hung with proud joy, to the days she was furled by a tired soldier, she has faithfully stood watch.
She is an inspiration..
Beyond all that she represents my country. She is much more to me.
She is a reminder to me of not only my need to stand faithfully in Christ no matter what the conditions, but the ever presence of my Lord.
My Lord who is with me throughout every season of my life, every laugh and every tear.
My Lord that is unchanging in His love.
My Lord that deliberately made me.
Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. [King James version]
