Writing is clearly one of our gifts. By this we communicate things about God to each other. Writing is a skill which can be used in the secular and Christian world. There are many excellent books on writing by authors who may not necessarily be Christian.
We can always improve a skill. If you want to become a better swimmer, then you need to watch swimming videos, read up on swimming and do a lot of swimming. You need to both think and do. Similary with writing. You can always look to improve.
Writng keeps the mind alert. You can condition the mind just as you can the body. You can run or walk 24 miles to prepare the body and then another 24 miler a few months later will not seem so hard. You can train the mind too in many ways. By reading good writing. Bible reading surely conditions the mind. After all you are reading the highest quality of authorship.
So perhaps we should think of ourselves as writers for God and see what skills and helps He brings us. And opportunities too. As we go forward in writing for Him we are fulfilling our calling in God with that type of service.
Writing can get things off your chest. What you have learnt and stored up for decades you can now reveal to a wider audience. Perhaps some people will benefit. I certainly have learnt or been encouraged by reading other people's articles about faith. Writing can bring fresh insights building my own faith life.
Writing is one of God's ways of expressing things to His own. By His own. Writing can be fun and creative. We can use all or some or one of the senses as observations in our writing to add impact and creativity. Sight, sound, smell, taste and touch can make a piece a lot more vivid. Right now I can hear cars going past over a wet road outside my study window. Cars driving on a wet tarmac road always make that splashing sound.
God is the best writer and it is best when He writes through us. A lot of Godly people before us were writers, and collectively put the Bible together. Many different writers contributed to that effort. Sometimes God does awesome things with writing.
Your writing might have a unique perspective. You may have something to say that should be said. So keep writing, my friends.
