Heart .
He is a mighty man of God and then one day he is told to do the unthinkable.
Being the man of God he is he does not hesitate.
So they rose early one morning and went to the place of which God had told him.
I can not even imagine what must have been going through Abraham’s mind.
Here he is taking his son whom he loves dearly to offer him as a burnt offering unto the Lord.
Can he even look his son in the eyes to say good morning my child?
Is he thinking back on his son’s young life?
Is Abraham holding back tears?
So many people say make the Word of God real to me.
See many just refuse to see.
Our Bible God’s Word is real.
So when we read about Abraham taking his son to offer him as a burnt offering it happened.
He went with the intentions of offering his son to God.
And most can’t even offer a prayer of thanks each day.
And when his son said.
My father look the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?
And Abraham’s response was.
My son God will provide.
They arrived to the place of which God had told him.
Abraham built the Alter there and placed the wood in order.
Then he did what any parent would find it impossible to do.
Abraham bound Isaac his son and laid him upon the wood.
And Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to slay his son.
To slay means: kill, murder.
So yes Abraham was going to kill his own son.
His baby boy Isaac all because God told him to.
So what has God told you to do that you have been ignoring?
I can safely say it is not as challenging as what Abraham faced.
Maybe God has asked you to slay your attitude or a habit.
But not your own child.
But if you are a parent to disobey God is to slay your children’s hopes of eternal life.
Your children will follow you as you go on your journey through life.
Simply because you are their parents.
Isaac followed Abraham his daddy.
Simply because Abraham was his daddy.
Try to picture Abraham, as he is prepared to take his sons life.
It may look like this.
Abraham is holding the knife looking at his son Isaac.
Isaac just looks back with that why daddy look.
Abraham possibly wipes away a tear as he takes the knife in both hands.
As he lifts the knife over his head he is possibly remembering the day their eyes first
touched each other’s heart.
Now he is about to place a knife in his own son’s heart.
Abraham shakes and trembles and he may hesitate only to say.
Son daddies so sorry, please forgive me and understand this must happen.
Then the Angel of the Lord calls from Heaven and said.
“ Abraham, Abraham.”
So he said. “ Here I am.”
And He said. “ Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son from Me.”
Talk about relief.
After this it says that Abraham lifted his eyes and looked, and there behind him was a ram caught in the thicket by his horns. So Abraham went and took the ram and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son.
Ok I do not doubt this but it sounds as if Abraham calmly looked over and there was the ram.
He just looked his son in the eyes for what he thought was the last time and now the ram.
We will never truly know how Abraham reacted that day or the pain he may have felt.
We do know that Abraham obeyed God and that is all that matters.
He loved his child to the point of offering him unto the Lord.
And he trusted the Lord our God enough to carry this out even killing his son.
After this they possibly held one another as father and son.
Maybe even looked each other in the eyes once again and yes.
Touched one another’s
Heart.
