Every business takes inventory
around the end of the year
perhaps we should take inventory of our
experiences ─ right here.
I was a procrastinator too often,
and didn’t do what I should.
I didn’t stay in touch with folks
the way I’d planned I would.
I didn’t read the Bible or pray enough each day;
I let too many other things,
somehow, get in the way.
Sometimes I let too many doubts flood in
and fill my soul,
until my heart was victimized
and not in my control.
Then I’d let my faith get weak
and my mind would fill with doubt,
I’d be lost in some dark valley
with no way to get out.
Sometimes I’d let depression
just overtake my heart,
not realizing that it’s up to me
to make a brand new start.
In the dark times of despair,
God’s Word would filter through,
and then I’d learn ─ it’s up to me
to do what I must do.
To have faith in Jesus and His love
and decide how I would feel,
and realize the Bible
is the only Word that’s real!
On other’s we can have no say ─
no governing control;
only on our attitude ─ do we have final rule.
No-one can steal our joy or
fill us with depression,
unless we give them authority
to wrap us in oppression.
Through the Word of Jesus,
and with His abiding love,
we can conquer any foe, if we keep our eyes above.
This year strive to gird yourself
in God’s own precious Word,
for its only in His glory
that your life can be assured.
Just know that Satan has no power
that won’t fall to defeat,
as long as we stay grounded
and worship at Jesus’ feet.
Don’t let others steal your joy
or strive to put you down,
just put a smile upon your face
to wipe away the frown.
Let His joy flood through your heart
and start the year out right,
and trust in Jesus’ holy love
to put all fear to flight!
Put God first in all you do in twenty and eleven,
and at year’s end we all should be,
a few steps closer to heaven!
