A crisis situation, needed an expert, the disciples tried it out and it didn't work, they are filled with a deep concern for the afflicted and desperate to provide relief which they are not able to and at the same time they are surrounded by the watchful eyes of the critics who are always on the look out for failures and mistakes in the Lord and His disciples.
"And when He came to the disciples, He saw a great multitude around them, and scribes disputing with them. Immediately, when they saw Him, all the people were greatly amazed, and running to Him, greeted Him."
Mark 9:14-15 (NKJV)
God save us from people who are only interested in finding mistakes in others and lack the deep love, concern and compassion of Christ.
We do find such people even today. What is lacking in them? Why are they so hard hearted? Why cannot they feel the pain of others and instead of giving comfort, start accusing others.
Dear All, The right attitude in the right place and at the right time comes only from Jesus Christ alone.
Paul exhorts us to live a wonderful and blessed Christian life in thus manner..
"Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.
Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus," Philippians 2:3-5 (NKJV)
Our mind and heart should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.
I know the best that we can do for others is to pray for them to receive Christ and thus His character, however let us also introspect ourselves, do we have the mind of Christ, or are we like those stubborn scribes trying to find fault in others always? does our behaviour comfort others? do people feel the real joy talking to us and being with us?
I recently heard a blessed sermon wherein the preacher mentioned about the fifth gospel which is 'we- our life'.
As the four Gospels in the Bible tell us about the life of Jesus Christ, so should our life speak to others about Him. Our life should reflect the love and compassion of Jesus and our behaviour should send out the message of God's goodness to others..
Did our Lord not tell this to us to follow :-
"By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:35 (NKJV)
God Bless,
Abraham
