Ted Williams the homeless man with the golden voice has been given a second chance. A former radio announcer and military veteran who fell on hard times, became homeless several years ago after being ravaged by drugs and alcohol. Williams who has been sober for two years, was living in a tent in Ohio and became a local sensation. Columbus Dispatch shot the video and posted it on YouTube and the rest is history.
After many years of struggling, prior arrests, Ted Williams finally will get the opportunity to use his million dollar voice. He has been signed to be the new voice for Kraft Macaroni & Cheese. “Like many others, Kraft Macaroni & Cheese and our ad agency was moved by Ted Williams’ story,” Kraft spokeswoman Lynne Galia said in an email to Advertising Age . “His amazing voice is perfectly suited to our campaign. We were in the middle of making our TV spots and in a unique position to help Ted use his great voice to gain employment.”
It gets better, the NBA Cleveland Cavaliers has offered him a two year contract as an announcer as well. “This has been totally, totally amazing,” Ted Williams said in a phone interview with the Associated Press on Wednesday, his voice choking with emotion. “I’m just so thankful. God has blessed me so deeply. I’m getting a second chance. Amazing.” Ted Williams even appeared on Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel’s late night talk shows.
The father of nine, overwhelmed by the flood opportunities, had another dream come true. He was reunited with his 90 year old mother in NYC, after 20 years.
