EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP 2
We continue to examine the qualities of productive leaders. They:-
• See the value in people.
One of the crucial lessons of the parable in Matthew 25:14-30 is the fact everybody has something of intrinsic value to offer. One of the hallmarks of productive leadership is the ability to see the best in others. Leaders identify the roses in every thorn. Even when others are blinded by their apparent limitations, leaders can see beyond their inadequacy. They can see beyond who they are. They can see who they can be.
• Bring out the value in people.
I have had the privilege of working with several leaders over the years. One of the most outstanding leaders who has been a blessing to me is Toye Sobande. Toye Sobande was the President of my fellowship during my 2nd and 3rd year in the University. He was always encouraging me, casting visions of what he could see in me. He also gave me opportunities to give expression to my gifting. I was the Content Manager of his organization’s website. My role included submitting articles for the website. He is one of the reasons I am a better writer today.
Toye Sobande had and still has the ability to identify value in people. When you deliberately recognize value in others and give them the opportunities to express their worth, you bring out the best in them. When you give them wings to fly, you make them soar.
One of the laws of Human relationship is “What you see in people is what you bring out of them.” When you see the best in people, you will get the best out of them. Have a prosperous New Year.
