God's Formula For Our Success

"Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners
or sit in the seat of mockers. (v.1)

But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
and on His law he meditates day and night. (v.2)

He is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers. "(v.3)

Success and blessing comes after OBEDIENCE. When we immerse ourselves daily in the Word of God and talk to Him in prayer, we come to know God and we learn to understand His will for us.

1.) The more time we spend with God, the more teachable we become. We learn to "abide" in Him and to trust Him. There we find the encouragement and counsel we need at all times.
We learn how to deal with situations with the wisdom that comes from our guide: the Bible.

2.) When we cannot understand situations and reasons why they happen, we can ask God and He will always answer. The more we depend on God for answers, the more godly faith develops in us. We "do not walk in the counsel of the wicked" but in the counsel of God's Word.

"Walking" requires agreement, action, and direction. We walk together with a person because we agree to go to a certain direction TOGETHER. When we walk with God in every detail of our lives, He will always take us to His good purpose.

3.) The more we learn about God, the more intimate He becomes to us. The second verse says we must "delight in the law of the Lord" and "meditate on it day and night". Like the lamp to our feet and the map for our path, the Word of God leads us closer to Him. To know God is to find real joy.

To "delight" in Hebrew is "chapets" meaning "to be pleased with, desire, favour a valuable thing for purpose, willingly. Greek translation "sunedomai" means " to rejoice in" or to "feel satisfied with." Both give stress to the good and the pleasing, the end result of getting into God's Word.

When we delight in God and His Word, God's purpose unfolds clearly for us to follow and then we receive the result: His blessing. Verse 3 tells us from the Word we get nourishment "like a tree planted by streams of water" ( it never stops) and like any tree that is continually nourished, we will bear FRUIT - stronger faith, deeper knowledge of God, greater wisdom, molded character towards Christ, and a sustained peace and joy in life that the world cannot provide.

It further says our "leaf will not wither" meaning our strength and faith will not be affected by changing seasons of trials and adversity. The Bible says "Be strong in the Lord." When we rely on God we are like a house firmly established on a rock, the storms and the floods cannot break it.

4.) Finally, it declares God's promise: "Whatever he does prospers." Prosperity means "shalowm" or fullness in everything: fruitfulness in work, in business, in family, in studies, in finances, in health, and in spiritual aspects. These always come from God. He gives us blessings because through them, He is glorified.

"If you remain in Me and My Words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. This is to My Father's glory, that you will bear much fruit, showing yourself to be My disciples." (JOHN 15: 7-8)
