A Virtuous Woman

Proverbs 31:10 "Who can find a virtuous woman?for her price is far above rubies."

A ruby is rare, much more rare then a diamond making it the most valuable gem. According to the google calculator 1oz=141.747616 carets so a ruby is worth $7,000/ounce.

A virtuous woman is worth more then 1 ruby ($7,000). Money has no price on her! A virtuous woman is much more rare then a ruby making her a treasure to the man that finds her!
Are you a virtuous woman? Does your husband (or will your future husband) think you are worth more than $7,000? More then 1 ruby?

Let's take a look and see if you are a virtuous woman.

Webster defines virtuous as moral, upright, chaste.

1) Moral
Moral is the distinction between right and wrong. Do you have moral values?

To get a better idea of moral we'll look at 3 synonyms:
Zechariah 8:16-17 tells us to speak truth to each other and to not swear falsly. Being honest is so important that it is one of the 10 commandments (Exodus 20:17 "thou shall not bear false witness")
James 5:12 tells us to let our yes be yes and our no be no. Now don't misunderstand honesty, being honest is not an excuse to be rude.
For ex: If someone is sensitive about the size of their feet and they ask you if you think their foot is big. Don't say "it's humongeous! Just being honest" That's not being honest, that's being rude! Instead say something loving like "In all honesty, your foot size doesn't matter"

Proverbs 11:13 says a trustworthy person keeps a secret. If someone tells you a secret and asks you not to tell, do you keep it or do you tell the first person you see? These "don't tell secrets" always end up being a chain of people knowing, each telling the next person to not tell.
Hey Ben, Sally just said 'blah blah blah' but don't tell! Ben says ok I won't tell but on his way to get ice cream he sees Jill and walks over to talk to her and next thing you know he's saying "Hey Jill, Suzie told me Sally said 'blah blah blah' but don't tell." And it just keeps on going all because Ben wasn't trusthworthy.

1 Timothy 2:9 tells us to dress modestly as is appropriate for a woman who claims to woship/follow God! Modesty isn't just dress, it's a matter of the heart. What's in your heart determines how you dress and act. If your heart is corrupted then your dress will be inmodest and your actions will be wrong. If Christ is in your heart then you'll dress to please Him and will act in a pleasing manner toward Him.Now remember that whoever lives in your heart, the father of lies (satan) or the Father of Truth (Jesus), will determine how you dress. Pray over modesty and let the Lord guide you in this area.

Upright means to be righteous

Proverbs 21:21 tells us that a person who seeks righteousness finds life and honor. What's it mean will find life? Isaiah 5:16 tells us that the Lord will show Himself by His righteousness so to seek righteousness is to seek Jesus which leads to eternal life. So an upright man is seeking to be like Jesus.

Chaste means pure, innocent.

1 Timothy 4:22 tells us to keep away from sin and to stay pure. As Christianas we are called to live a lifestyle of purity.
True love waits. Song of Soloman 2:7 tells us to not wake love until it's time. Wait for your true love and while you're waiting for your true love, keep your thoughts and words pure as well.
Purity doesn't stop after the "I do's" we are all to live a pure lifestyle with a pure heart and pure thoughts. We are all a work in progress. 2 Timothy 2:22 tells us to flee sin, our fleshly desires and to pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace. Proverbs 4: 23-27 tells us to guard our hearts, to keep corrupt talk out of our mouths, to keep our gaze straight ahead (on Jesus), and to stick to the path of life which is the path of Jesus. You may ask yourself how we can keep our ways pure...well the answer is simple, by living according to God's word (Psalm 119:9)

So a virtuous woman is moral, upright, and chaste. She is honest, trusthworthy, modest, righteous, and pure of heart, thoughts, and words. So I ask you again, are you a virtuous woman? Are you worth more than rubies? If you honestly can't say yes the good news is that Jesus can make you a virtuous woman. I encourage you to pray over each trait of a virtuous woman and to try each day to live out the life of a virtuous woman. Pray for the strength as this is not an easy task.

If you died today, are you absolutely certain that you would go to heaven? You can be! TRUST JESUS NOW
