Many eyes go through the meadow, but few see the flowers in it.
-- Ralph Waldo Emerson

The Meadow

Have you been in the meadow
I can’t see your footprints there
Did you lay your troubles down
Can you leave this place without a frown

Did you feel the wind blowing softly through your hair
Stand still for just a second, close your eyes
Inhale and exhale
See it, Feel it, Smell it, Touch it
Gods care

Wrapped softly in my Fathers blanket
That touch of blue softens the eyes
Look up and explore
Now reach out and touch it
Heavens door

Pick a dandelion
Hold it lightly to your lips
Let your breath of air
Send the petals flying toward the heavens
Now feel him, God is here

See the apple tree in the distance
Follow the meadow,
The straight and narrow path toward life
Let the weeds fall where they may
For God collects weeds
His love makes them a beautiful seed

Walk quietly toward the tree
Tell me what you see
A nest sets there on the farthest limb
And you think
What keeps it there?
Gods love is everywhere,

A Mommy Robin flits in and out
Searching for food upon the ground
The daddy is near-by
Stand still just for one moment
Stop and take a sigh
Watch and wait

The mommy flies west
The daddy flies east
Their eyes watching the skies
Their wings a steady pace
waiting for predators to fly by
The meadow holds lots of treasures
A lot of love that cannot be measured

The Father Robin searches high and low
And finally hits the mark
A lunch fit for a King
With just the right amount of protein

Each little detail here in the meadow
Provided by God because he is able
Because in his word he said:
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”.
Now let us lay aside that sin and strife

Let me walk with you
Hand in hand, deeper into the meadow
Let us invite whosoever will,
until we see the gates of heaven
Gods love is saving and saving still

Now, do you dare to leave footprints here in the meadow?
Please, walk softly
Watch, wait, and listen for the call
Let others dare to walk where you have trod
It is not costly
The price is paid in full
