Before You Call

Verse:
When Gabriel came to Daniel
the moment he spoke to pray,
      this servant of Immanuel
         had gracious words to say.

The prophet was a simple man
   much like you and me.
Yet he was heard by the Great I am
   Who answered his heart-felt plea.

Chorus:
“I will answer before you call,
while you speak, I will hear.
No request is too small
though you feel far, I am near.

“I am there as you are praying,
I know every hair on your head.
Before you start saying,
I answer as if you had said.”

Verse:
Daniel mourned for three weeks,
   refraining from pleasant food.
Touching his shoulder, he still speaks,
the angel spoke as he would.

“Do not fear, Daniel,
   you set heart to perceive.
You have made yourself humble.
I meet your desire to see.”

Repeat Chorus

Bridge:
Delays are not denials.
Though silent He will speak.
So be like holy Daniel.
Pray and faithfully seek.
