In life we find pitfalls and valleys, sunshine and mountains, but we also find God (if we are looking for him). Throughout the Psalms, David and others sang praises to the Most High God. And like King David we to have found ourselves singing his praises and also straying from a loving God due to the fact of wanting to fulfill our own desires.
David disobeyed God's laws but he also repented and returned to the Shepard of his soul. There is a vast difference between backsliding and non- commitment, in our Christian walk. We live in the last days and there is no excuse when it comes to living a holy life. We like sheep have gone astray but we can repent and return to the Lord.
If we choose our own desires above his then I am afraid we really weren't his to begin with. As the scripture says If you love me, keep my commandments. John 14:15. He that hath my commandments and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him John 14: 21.
“Oh, Lord let us love you with ALL of our hearts and let us not allow ANYTHING to stand in our way of serving you and making you Lord of our lives. You gave yourself away so we might live with you, is there anything more awesome then your sacrifice? No... there is nothing more awesome then your sacrifice”.
The day of the Lord will arrive and all mankind will see him. Just because we are called by his name does not exempt us from the end time trials and tribulations. Jesus said unless those days were shortened even the elect would be deceived. He also said pray that you might escape these things that are coming upon the earth and stand before the Son of Man.
We like sheep have gone astray...But let us return to the Shepard of our souls.
