"The Unrighteousness Of Self-righteousness"
By
Calvin J. Moss
We live in a society where people feel that living a good clean life is all that is needed to make it to Heaven. Some people say to themselves if I support the Homeless, send money to Medical research for diseases, and continue doing good deeds I should be right with God. But the Bible says that we are not saved through good works. We are saved through grace by faith in Jesus Christ. The bible says, “All have sinned and fell short of the glory of God”. Jesus said, “I am the way the truth the life. No one cometh to the Father except by me”. So then Jesus is the beginning and the end of our righteousness as well as our faith.
In John 15, Jesus is talking about the Fruit that he beareth that the Father purges. Jesus also talks about the Fruit that we bear through him (Jesus). Now the Fruit is the Righteousness of God found in Christ Jesus. Righteousness meaning God`s way of doing things. He said “he that abideth in me the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing”.
The nation Of Islam is made up of men and Women who proclaim “righteousness”. God says in Proverbs 18:8 that “Righteousness is with me”. He said “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they shall be filled” (Matthew 5:6). Islam` s righteousness is not such, but unrighteousness.
The Bible talks about the Pharisees who were religious leaders and how they loved to be honored by men. They loved the uppermost seats in the synagogues and loved greetings in the markets. The Pharisees were followers of their laws and not the law of God. They often antagonized Jesus about his Preaching and miracles. Jesus called them hypocrites and vipers because their deeds were evil and full of self-fulfillment. Even their prayers were self-righteous. Luke 18:11-12 says “The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank you that I am not like the other men-extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. I fast twice a week: I give tithes of all that I possess”. Notice his self-righteousness. He did not say make me like Jesus. Lord, change my heart. Show thy way. He did not pray for the tax collector but against him.
I just want to conclude that righteousness is found only in Christ Jesus. Righteousness found in Allah is a lie from the devil that deceived the whole world. You must be washed in the blood of Jesus to be declared righteous. Jesus said, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness” God bless you. Amen.
