Moribund: declining, waning, dilapidated, dying, failing, expiring, at death's door, on your last legs, on your deathbed

John 11:1-26
Escaping an angry mob of Jews declaring him guilty of blasphemy, Jesus secreted himself in the area of the Jordan Valley. Soon afterwards he received word from Mary and Martha that their brother, Lazarus, laid moribund in their home. Jesus tarried in the countryside two days before heading to Bethany, possibly to enhance the impending miracle.
Arriving there he was told Lazarus had been dead four days. The body had been entombed; mourners were comforting the family. Martha and Mary were distraught that he had not gotten there sooner.
Jesus questioned Martha, "I am the resurrection and the life; he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?" (KJV)
Martha replied, "Yes, Lord. I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world." (KJV)
Later while walking into town, Jesus encountered Mary amidst a throng of weeping mourners. She fell at his feet and wept, crying, "If you had only been here, Lazarus wouldn’t have died."
Groaning in the spirit, Jesus asked the Jews where they had buried Lazarus, weeping sorely as he trudged behind them to the grave.
What a miracle awaits them!
