I want to tell you about a friend
who gave his life for me,
to wash away my guilt and sin
if only you could see...
He really is so good to me
and doesn't seem to care,
about my many different faults
or the clothes I wear.
He reduces me to tears
with one touch of his love,
and he's always there for me
my gentle Lord above.
He takes away my fears each day
and gives me strength to cope,
with everything that comes my way
he fills my life with hope.
He'll carry me till I am tired
and stay till I am well,
and he will give me songs to sing
and stories I can tell.
He's the best friend I could have
he always stays the same,
the best friend in the whole wide world
Jesus is his name.
