“If you hide your sins, you will not succeed,” (Proverb 28:13).
Why do we deny? We know that we sin and do wrong more often than we’d like to admit. Granted, most of what we do are considered to be small things, and maybe even sometimes insignificant. But none the less, what’s wrong is still wrong. Even the most innocent amongst us are guilty. Do you think that the great saints are absolved from this prison? None of us are. This is why we pray, “forgive us our trespasses…and lead us not into temptation….” If you are human, it is almost inevitable that you live some moments of your life in sin. And in some sense, that is okay because God knows this as a fact and he also expects this of us. That is how we learn and grow as a species. The point with God is not to try to avoid committing sin, but to acknowledge when you do commit sin and then honestly ask for forgiveness. That is what it means to be reconciled with our heavenly Father.
