Looking over my daughter’s recent transcript, my eyes were drawn to the phrase “credits in escrow”, the simplest way I can explain its meaning is this, you can earn credits now and save them towards the total you need for the completion of a degree. It made me think of the ultimate “credit in escrow”. Jesus died on the cross for our sins, paid the debt for our salvation from an eternity in hell. Because of Calvary we can each have “credit in escrow” and all we need to finish our “degree” is to accept the salvation that Christ has to offer us, and therefore accepting Him as our redeemer. Nothing else that we do in ourselves will ever bring us into the bosom of the Lord, not donations, not charity work, not midweek church attendance, nothing.
I pray that the Lord will help me to always remember that it is only by His mercy and grace that I am saved, and nothing I can do will ever take the place of the price He paid for me.
Ephesians 4:8-9 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (King James version)
