ďGetting down on your knees is a way of getting back on your feet.Ē
I donít know where I got this quote. All I know is that prayer works.
I can still remember the time when I was so confused, that I didnít know what to do, where to go, and who to turn to. I trusted no one, not even myself. I wanted to run away somewhere, but didnít know where. And out of desperation, I found myself in just one placeÖdown on my knees.
Itís during those difficult times in my life that I learned to humble myself and submit to God in prayer. There were moments when I can not understand why God made me wait for His answers, but after awhile, I learned that faith and trust can only be developed through perseverance, through complete surrender to Godís will.
Itís during those times when I was about ready to give up, when God will bring me to remembrance what He has promised:
ďFor I know the thoughts that I think toward you, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.Ē (Jeremiah 29:11-13-NKJV)
Yes, God knows whatís in your heart right now. No matter how high the mountain youíre climbing, no matter how heavy the baggage you are carrying , He will give you rest and lighten your load and strengthen you. He did it to me, and trust God, He will do it for you too. He didnít promise a life free from storms, but He will meet you there. He will even carry you during the flood of life. Itís a matter of trust.
Iím blessed and grateful to have a place to go where I can spend some quiet time alone with God. I can easily get distracted by noises around me, and even convenient gadgets like computer, cell phone, television and radio can distract me from communing with God. An hour, even few minutes in a secluded, quiet place praying my heart out is where I find the heart of Jesus- The Way, The Truth and The Life.
Got problems too big? Be thankful, we have a bigger God! I learned that to be true, down on my knees. And now, I'm standing still.
Dear Gloria... You have given us so much to hold onto here - you have shared so much Godly wisdom here! The beautiful part is that it is a testimony from your heart and soul and when we read you words, we feel and see God working through you...and that gives us such encouragement for our own faith journeys! Thank you, dear friend and Sister-in-Christ! Keep holding onto the Lord and inspiring others - for you do it so well. Love, Peggy
You Said that all so WELL Sis. Down on our knees is the place where we are going to stand, stand in Jesus Christ. He is our refuge our hope our deiverer and our Savior. Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful truth with us. I love you, Sharon
Just yesterday, I felt led to just release everything I deal with to God and to stop trying to carry it. Prayer changes us and draws us closer to the Father. Thank you for this message of encouragement. You put us into rememberance of His promises of a future and a hope. Thank you, My Sister.
