This is our busiest time of year at work. In retail, everything depends on sales the day after Thanksgiving and during the Christmas holidays. And we really need good sales this year! Everyone is gearing up, getting ready, doing their best to make it all come together. I work in Corporate Purchasing and had been calling and emailing one of my vendors for several days. I needed an answer on a rush order and was not getting a return call. This is one of my most loyal vendors whom I have worked with for the past 12 years so I didn’t understand why. I also consider this man to be of high integrity as well as a good friend. But, I thought, everybody gets busy…
I did finally get him on the phone today and flippantly asked “Are you avoiding me???” There was a pause and in a strained voice he said “No, I have been at the hospital with my wife. We just learned she has cancer…”
It was like God slapped me right between the eyes. Suddenly, the stupid order I had been inquiring about meant nothing and a rush of emotions overwhelmed me. I felt horrible for him and his precious wife who must be going through so much confusion and fear right now. I apologized and told him I was so sorry and they would be in my prayers. I went out to my car a little later and I did pray. I poured my heart out to God on their behalf and for the many other people I know who are going through similar traumas of life…
Footnote - (I stole this from my Pastor) If you tell somebody you are going to pray for them, make sure you DO IT please. We have a tendency to say that sometimes then never think another thought about it. Don't do that.
You just never know what people are dealing with in life but they put on a happy face and go to work and try their best to get through each day, feeling alone and helpless… God showed me today that I should always be kind and considerate of other people. We are our brother’s keepers! We are to be that light shining in a dark world of sickness, heartache and pain that is all around us. We are to pray for our friends and neighbors and love them…the way Christ loves them. Prayer works – I firmly believe that and friend, if you are reading this, please know that God loves that broken and contrite spirit when we come to him in prayer and give all our cares to him.
These verses seemed to fit for the trials we all face, so I will share:
That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen. Ephesians 3: 16-21 KJV
Read it again…slowly. In verse 20 it says according to the power that works in us! That power that works in us I believe…is prayer. He does the work but if we come to Him with our requests, I believe if it is His will, He will release that power and give us the desires of our heart. The bible says so!
Friend, (you know who you are) we serve a mighty God who is able to do way above what we could ever ask for! I heard recently that ‘Faith is not believing that God can…rather, it’s knowing that God will!’ I like that…So, I’m praying and don’t you stop praying.
If you died today, are you absolutely certain that you would go to heaven? You can be! TRUST JESUS NOW

Julia, this is heart warming and touching. We do not know what others are going through when we get aggravated with them. I used to work under a supervisor who was such an inspiration for me. As I would be repairing electronic circuit boards for a company, I would notice she would pull a lady off the line, take her over to oneside, inform her she noticed something was wrong, and offer to pray with her. To me, that lady was prayer in motion. She was a walking and living sermon. God bless you. We all have a lot to learn.
Powerful anointed writing my Dear Friend!Yes, we need to be praying and sharing God's Love! Thanks for the great encouragement and great scripture prayer.
In Christ's Love,
