All my life I have strived for happiness. Happiness in relationships, happiness in work and happiness in health. In my quest for this happiness I learned that in my happy times I've learned nothing. In those brief moments I actually became complacent.
It is in times of unhappiness that I learn. When my marriage was on the rocks, I sought for wisdom in marriage and I learned how to love my wife unconditionally. When my health was troubled I sought wisdom in physical fitness and I met my mentor, Dr. Matt Hubbard who is the example of Christ to me. When my finances were low I sought wisdom on finances and I learned that I need to be a better steward of my money before God will entrust me with the abundance He has for me. In my unhappiness I found God.
In my journey for happiness I found joy. Happiness is a feeling based on what happens to you. But joy comes from understanding why you must go through different seasons. Joy is knowing that all things can and will happen because we live in the world ruled by the evil one but God can use what was meant for evil for His glory.
I once was plagued with addictions. I once was very selfish and prideful. I once was a horrible husband and father.
"I once was lost but now I'm found, was blind but now I see. How precious did that grace appear the moment I first believed. Amazing grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me."
