When my stone hearth reflects old muted eyes,
My heart’s lone beat keeps time with wall clock’s rhyme,
Tick tock,
Tick tock,
Tick tock,
It does not lie,
In bed beneath cool quilts my eyes I hide.
I fear the death of autumn’s breath inside,
Fragile tree limbs lose leaves while roots grow dry,
Praying,
Crying,
Wishing,
Hope’s king will rise,
Echoes of life with smiles wave long goodbyes.
Yet on cold ice so thin it cracks in light,
I hear a breeze whisper softly in night,
I love,
I love,
I love,
Warmth steals my knife,
I’ll see the dawn wink pink and fly life’s kite.
I don’t know why His grace adorns my door.
I praise each morn bare feet stretch on cool floor.
