A good reason for 'reasoning', study of Hebrews

When we talk about 'reasoning', it gives us somehow a negative way of looking at it, we might think of grumbling, complaining and all sort of discontentment.

Let's have a look at Hebrews 11:18-19 (New Living Translation)together. And let us see a good reason for our 'reasoning'.

It reads, "even though God had told him (Abraham), "Isaac is the son through whom your descendants will be counted. Abraham reasoned that if Isaac died, God was ABLE TO bring him back to life again. And in a sense, Abraham did receive his son back from the dead."

Abraham did reason in his heart about what had happening, wow...God asked him to offer Isaac on the altar, and wasn't God the one who brings Isaac into being? Wasn't Isaac the promise of God to Abraham? Didn't God say that, through Isaac, God will bless the generation and He would multiply the numbers of his descendants? Was God a liar? Why did God break His own promise like that?

How did Abraham reason?
Did he in fact challenge God by asking Him why He did what He did?
Did Abraham feel upset with God, breaking His promise, losing hope for his future?

NO!

Abraham remained steadfast, remained calm and collected, he remained faithful to God.

He reasoned in his heart-the greatest of God, the all-powerful God, the miraculous God, the 'all things are possible' God. He magnify the Lord's greatness, his eyes fixed on the 'all powerful' God, that He is able to do all things, He is able to make the impossible become the possible.

He trusted in God's faithfulness, and believed that God is a 'promise-keeper', not a promise breaker!!

He reasoned, but with a GOOD ATTITUDE, a TRUSTING ATTITUDE, not the opposite!

May we all learn this positive, right attitude toward our great God today! Amen.
