Once upon a time, in the city of New York, it was a season where the air waves were flooded with hype about the new mega block buster Hollywood movie starring Hollywood-Great: Mr. Kane.
12 year old Francis loved to think of himself as Mr. Kane’s number one fan. So you could imagine his excitement when he saw Mr. Kane at a distance, walking further away from him.
Francis was supposed to be standing in front of a comic book rack outside a store, waiting for his Mum who told him to wait there while she rushed into the saloon beside it, where she had forgotten her purse. He wanted to obey his Mum and stand there, but this is Mr. Kane we are talking about – his favourite Hollywood movie star. He just had to get an autograph, this was one day he could skip obedience. His Mum would understand. He quickly dipped his hands into his pockets. There was nothing that an autograph can be written on inside it, only the money he had been saving for the past three weeks was there. ‘Oh! What would I do? What would I do?’, Francis thought.
He could quickly buy a comic and get Mr. Kane to sign it but he had been saving that money for forever – 3 whole weeks specifically. He could easily get his Mum to buy him a comic book but she wasn’t there and by the time she came Mr. Kane would be long gone. “Oh! Men”, Francis grumbled.
He quickly grabbed a cool looking comic book rushed to pay the vendor with the money he had been saving and ran towards Mr. Kane as fast as his little legs could carry him. As he tapped him on the shoulder he screamed out “PLEASE SIR, CAN I HAVE YOUR AUTOGRAPH?” Francis could barely contain himself. He was too excited to think, too excited to stop bubbling, too excited to stop smiling so widely.
“Why Sure”, the Man said as he bent over and collected the comic book from Francis and started writing his autograph on it.
Francis had calmed down a little bit now. He squinted to get a better look at Mr. Kane’s face beneath his hat. ‘Men! Celebrities sure look a little bit different in person than the do on TV’, Francis thought. Francis squinted even more ‘He sure looks a whole lot different’.
“Are you Mr. Kane the Movie Star?”, Francis asked feeling a little bit silly that he asked a Hollywood-Great such a stupid question but still he needed to be sure. He looked way too different from the way he looks on TV.
The man stopped scribbling and looked up from the comic book, mildly surprised. “No! Kid I’m Mr. Ted Clason, a used car salesman”, the man answered.
“WHAT ???” Francis was boiling in anger. “GIMMIE THAT !!!”. He snatched the comic book aggressively from the man’s hands. “You are not Mr. Kane? ... And you had me thinking you were Mr. Kane and got me running down the streets of New York like some psycho. Only to get a wanna –be’s autograph? You are nothing but a - ”
“Whoooaa!!! Kid !”, the man was a bit embarrassed but very angry. “I never said I was Mr. Kane. You ran up to me and asked for my autograph. I was just being nice –“
“I ASKED FOR YOUR AUTOGRAPH?”, Francis rudely interrupted. “But you are a nobody? You are not a celebrity, so when somebody comes up to you and asks for an autograph, you should know there is a mistake. You should know they are either blind or are mistaking you for somebody else. Only celebrities get asked for autographs, everybody knows that. Nobody asks a nobody for an autograph.”
“Look young man”, the man spoke with major seriousness in his voice, “Your parents may have raised you rude but I am a somebody. I am not a nobody. Everybody is somebody special. If God could send his only son to die on the cross for everybody, then everybody must be very special. There is no exception. They may not be special in your eyes but they are special all the same. They are special to him who created the Universe. Therefore I am special. I am not a nobody”
Francis just panted like an angry bulldog as he stared up at the man. It like what the man said made him forget all the insults he wanted to rain on the man.
“FRANCIS !!!” a loud voice called.
Francis turned. It was his Mum. She was waving to him from the other side of the road. She must have finished retrieving her purse from the salon and not seeing him at the comic book rack, she must have started looking for him.
“COMING MUM”, Francis shouted back and started to run across the road.
He hadn’t looked both ways before crossing. He wasn’t on the zebra crossing. The green traffic light was on. The cars on the road were few, but they were still moving.
“AAaaaaaaaaaaaagh !!!!” Everyone who saw it screamed. A bus was headed straight for Francis. It was unavoidable. It was clear that he was going to get hit. His Mum closed her eyes as tears and fear washed over her face.
When she opened her eyes she saw her son safely in front of her. He was in the arms of the man he was talking to. The man must have quickly picked up Francis and ran across the road at a very fast speed. No matter how fast a runner the man thought of himself, there is no way he could have been sure that he would make it. He had risked his life for her son. A stranger had risked his life for her son. It was obvious he saw Francis as somebody special. It was obvious the man was a special man.
Francis apologized to the man with tears in his eyes. The man who he had called a nobody is the man he would remember for the rest of his life as the man who saved his life. Mr. Kane was only a hero on the big screen yet Francis was willing to go through so much trouble for his autograph but not willing to go through the same amount of trouble for someone who wasn’t a Hollywood celebrity. Yet the non- Hollywood celebrity had saved his life for real. He had saved him.
Frankie then understood what the man meant when he said everybody was special. Clearly, if the man didn’t believe that, Francis wouldn’t be alive and Francis knew it. The man’s autograph now held more value to Francis than anything Mr. Kane could have given him had he met Mr. Kane.
Frankie’s Mum begged the Man to join them for lunch at a nice restaurant and over lunch the Man spoke to them above God’s love for mankind and about Jesus.
That day Frankie and his Mum gave their hearts to Christ and became true Bible believing Christians, and as facts show: a life in Christ is a life that lives HAPPILY EVER AFTER.

PRAYER OF SALVATION:
If you’ve been touched by what you just read and you’ve never given your heart to Jesus and would love to become a Christian, please say this prayer and mean it with all your heart :
“Oh Lord God, I come to you in the name of Jesus Christ. Your word says, ‘… whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved’ ( Acts 2:21 )
I ask Jesus to come into my heart to be the lord of my life. I receive eternal life into my spirit and according to Romans 10:9, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved, “I declare that I am saved; I am born – again; I am a child of God! I now have Christ dwelling in me, and greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world! ( 1 John 4:4 ). I now walk in the consciousness of my new life in Christ Jesus. Hallelujah!”
PRAYER TO RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT:
“Oh Father, I thank you now for making me born again. For making me you child.
I ask that you give me your Holy Spirit to live in me and with me. For your word says that you would freely give the Holy Spirit to all those who ask. I open my heart and receive and I know by faith that you have given me your Holy Spirit. Thank you Father. In Jesus name. Amen.
CONGRATULATIONS! YOU ARE NOW A CHILD OF GOD. WELCOME TO THE FAMILY OF GOD.
