THE MARK OF LEADERSHIP

Once upon a time in a land far far away, there lived a beautiful Princess in the most beautiful castle in all the world. For you see her father was the greatest King of all the other Kings around the world.
Although Princess Noreen was royalty, she was always seen in a servant’s apparel. No one knew she was the Princess, only her and her father knew. For you see, all through the worlds at that time, women were seen as lesser and beneath men. Women didn’t have any say in any matter.
When the King’s wife was pregnant with her, the doctor said that due to some complications, she would not be able to have any other children. This made the King very nervous because if that baby was a girl the people would never allow her to sit on the throne. His legacy would come to an end. He couldn’t even dream of marrying again because he loved his wife dearly and might even die for her.
When the doctor said it was a girl after the baby was delivered, the King made the doctor take a vow of secrecy. Since the whole kingdom knew his wife was with child, there was only one way to secure his legacy – to present a male child.
He hid his daughter amongst the royal maids in the castle in such a way that even the royal maids didn’t know she was the Princess. He then presented his brother’s son who was 2 days older than the Princess, to the people as his son. At least this way he has his daughter in the castle and can care for her secretly and the throne doesn’t leave his extended family.
A few people in the castle however noticed the King and Queen’s fondness for a particular beautiful maid. They were sure the King and Queen spent more time with her than they did with their own son – the crowned Prince.
Princess Noreen grew in grace, beauty and intelligence. Even though to the eyes of many, she was only a maid, she had much respect and influence in the castle. She was nice and easy to love. Everybody loved her.
Her mom – the Queen gave her a bible on her seventh birthday which she had studied all these years - Reading and meditating on it over and over again.
She particularly loved the life of King Solomon and felt she had much in common with him. She one day realised that even though King Solomon was recorded as the wisest man that ever lived, he had asked God for wisdom. She had taught that Solomon’s wisdom was unattainable by others, specific to him. But it dawned on her that she can ask for wisdom too and God is ever ready to give us whatever we ask of him.
She went out to her favourite spot in the Palace garden and got on her knees. “God your word says, ask and you shall receive. Seek and you shall find.
Today I ask for wisdom. I seek wisdom. Oh! Lord if you give me wisdom I would use it for your glory and your glory alone”.
Nothing like angels appearing or Jesus appearing happened in the garden but she knew, she just knew God had answered her prayer.
As time went on she found that she had a burning desire to read books. She loved knowledge like never before and everybody in the castle including the King and Queen took noticed of it. This of course made the King and Queen proud.
It wasn’t long before she became a bit of a problem solver and counsellor amongst the maids and servants in the castle.
The secret of her identity was safe but there was one way for the truth to be revealed.
Everyone in the King’s linage – everyone who had previously sat on throne had a peculiar birthmark on their upper right arm. The people conveniently called it, THE MARK OF LEADERSHIP. The crowned Prince – the son of the King’s brother didn’t have it, but the 19 years old Princess Noreen, who had been disguised as a maid all her life had it. If people found out, everything would be revealed. Noreen had to keep her birthmark concealed at all times no matter what.
A long war later broke out between her father’s kingdom and another kingdom. Women where normally never consulted about important matters so it wasn’t strange that Princess Noreen had no idea of what it was all about, but she could see that it troubled her father greatly.
Months went by and the economic condition of her father’s kingdom kept getting worse. One day she overheard other maids gossiping and she taught she heard one say that the other kingdom has always been poor and they had wasted all their resources on the war so soon the war would be over. Then the King (Noreen’s father) would seize the opportunity and wipe out what is left of the other Kingdom. Not even a puppy would be spared.
Princess Noreen daringly decided to sneak into the other kingdom. People of royal blood have always been known to be courageous whether they were raised as maid servants or not.
Princess Noreen headed for the tent of the captain of the enemy army’s tent. When he saw her he taught she was one of his maids. Like I said, people didn’t think women were important, so her presence there was unimportant to him as she ministered as a maid and he didn’t mind speaking freely about delicate war matters with some soldiers that were with him.
Princess Noreen left there with all the information that she needed. Information not even her father or his Generals had. The other army where just planning to look weak when they were strong, in other to lure her father and his Generals into a trap. Her father would be killed by the enemy.
There was only one thing for Noreen to do. It was rash but she loved her father, she had to protect him even if it meant risking everything.
Noreen busted into the Council hall in her father’s castle. All the top council members where there but her father – the King wasn’t there, he had already gone on into the war – into the trap. It was only a matter of time before he would be killed in battle.
Noreen showed the council members her birthmark and explained everything. She now by right out ranked all of them and the only one with the power to veto her command was her father who was not there. The only thing is, would they listen and obey the command of a woman even though she bore the mark of leadership? Even her mother – the Queen was not allowed to enter the counsel hall, let alone for her daughter to give orders in it.
Princess Noreen was thrown out of the Council hall in such a way that she was convinced that what she had done was a mistake. Now the council thinks her father – the King is a liar and a deceiver. That cannot be good for him politically.
Princess Noreen sat outside the Council hall weeping. News that the beautiful humble maid Noreen was actually the Princess was spreading throughout the Kingdom.
Later a large number of maids gathered around Noreen to comfort her. They treated her like royalty. Like the Princess she truly was.
Just then it dawned on Noreen, all the men may be unfair and biased but the women showed her their support. She could use the women to carry out her plan. Princess Noreen quickly got up, she had one more shot and she was racing against the clock.
The King fought bravely. As I said everyone with royal blood have bravery in them. However, it was not long before he realized his efforts would be futile.
“To the death”, the King cried to his men as he raised up his sword. They knew what it meant. Chances were slim that they would make it. “To the death”, the King’s men chorused in agreement. The King and his 12 Generals – extraordinary men of war would die that day in that valley.
They lasted 30 minutes longer than anyone could have expected but alias their strength was gone from them. Any moment now, they would all be dead.
Suddenly, the enemy started drawing back. Are they retreating? Why? Now? If they killed the King now they would win the war. Why are they passing up the opportunity? Strange ...
The enemy raised up the white flag and sent a messenger to give them food and water and tell them to return home, that there was now peace between the two kingdoms.
What? The King was surprised, he couldn’t believe it. Peace? How?
How could a war that has gone on so long just end ... peacefully, without the King knowing it? He never even dreamed of making any plans for peace.
When the King returned home he found out that his daughter’s secret was out and she had organised all the women in the kingdom to take food to all the women and children in the other kingdom and had pledged them their friendship.
The major reason the other side attacked them was based on their poverty and Noreen’s father’s kingdom taking the little they had. So they were basically fighting for their survival nobody had cared to look deeper into the motivation of both sides but Noreen.
A woman had organised the women, and the women had saved the kingdom. The council members and the King owed their lives to Princess Noreen and they restored her to her rightful place.
The King’s brother’s son did not mind at all. He understood honour and understood it wasn’t his place to sit on the throne in the first place.
From then on as what had happened in that kingdom spread throughout the world. Women were never taken as unimportant and beneath men.

If you’ve been touched by what you just read and you’ve never given your heart to Jesus and would love to become a Christian, please say this prayer and mean it with all your heart :
“Oh Lord God, I come to you in the name of Jesus Christ. Your word says, ‘… whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved’ ( Acts 2:21 )
I ask Jesus to come into my heart to be the lord of my life. I receive eternal life into my spirit and according to Romans 10:9, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved, “I declare that I am saved; I am born – again; I am a child of God! I now have Christ dwelling in me, and greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world! ( 1 John 4:4 ). I now walk in the consciousness of my new life in Christ Jesus. Hallelujah!”
PRAYER TO RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT:
“Oh Father, I thank you now for making me born again. For making me you child.
I ask that you give me your Holy Spirit to live in me and with me. For your word says that you would freely give the Holy Spirit to all those who ask. I open my heart and receive and I know by faith that you have given me your Holy Spirit. Thank you Father. In Jesus name. Amen.
CONGRATULATIONS! YOU ARE NOW A CHILD OF GOD. WELCOME TO THE FAMILY OF GOD.
