" I stumble to the kitchen for a bite
Then I see my old guitar in the night
Just waiting for me like a secret friend,"
Several years ago a popular county singer
sang a ballad about coming home after a
nights work and instead of falling into bed
reaching for his trusty guitar.
I kind of relate the feeling of the lyrics to
my Bible. Not the children's Bible with the
colorful pictures, but the one that I marked
up and highlighted all over the place.
Getting a new Bible is kind of like getting
a new guitar. It just takes a while to break
the new one in and get comfortable with it.
Ironically it is the song that is more important
than the instrument. Bibles are kind of
the same way, you get used to the words
being in a specific place on the page,
but you find that its the way the words
wash over your soul that really matters
In the end it is how the message of the Bible
changes you, that changes the world.
