God has promised us through His Son, “I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”(Mark 11:24) It is really a great unfailing assurance to get whatever we want. Then what is the hurdle that bars us from getting what we want?
Five tips to get whatever we want
1) Pray in the way God has shown us
Prayer is the lot of every human being. It is a special privilege of Christians. But in order to be effective in praying, we nee to understand from God’s word how to pray. Paul states when he writes to the Ephesians, “Pray in the spirit at all times in every prayer and supplication.” (Ephesians 6:18) The Holy Bible guides us in the methods of different ways of praying.
2) Pray with Jesus
Prayer is not a mere recitation of words. It is an earnest from our hearts. It is a life experience. It is life with Jesus. Notice what Jesus says about prayer “If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask for whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.”(John 15: 7) It is witnessing life abiding I Jesus that assures us that we will surely get whatever we ask in prayer.
3) Ask in line with God’s word
If our prayers are to be effective and productive with the desired results, the things you desire from God must be in line with God’s word. If they are not in line with God’s word, your desires will not be fulfilled, because God and His word are one. Our faith, immersed in the word of God, gives us the capacity to believe and get what we pray. The word assures, “Ask, and it will be given you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you.” (Mathew 7:7)
4) Believe that you got it
Belief is the foundation of prayer. It is our belief that makes the difference in prayer. It is the main factor of our success or failure. Our believing must be right and be in line with God’s word. Jesus assures us so many times, “Believe that it is yours and it will be granted to you.”(Mark 11:24)
5) First believe
Most of us normally want to see the answer first and then we will believe. It is human to go for the answer first and then to believe. Normally people say, “I am not going to believe I have got something I cannot see” or, “I cannot see it; therefore I do not have it.” But the word of God says just the opposite. Bible says, “Believe that it is yours and then it will be granted to you” (Mark 11:24)
In order to work in line with God, the best way is by reading the word of God. It nourishes us with the necessary spiritual food. It makes our belief strong and fruitful. It is lacking this spiritual strength that people go from person to person in search of answers. So it is our faith that makes our prayers successful. “Faith comes from hearing, and hearing through Christ’s word” (Romans 10:17)
