A Journey of a Lifetime

There are many journeys in life, all with different motives, destinations and results. But there is a journey we all have to take and it’s the journey of a lifetime. This is the journey that starts off with a, “Follow Me” instruction, the kind twelve men heard and they left to follow a Man who had suddenly taken the world by storm. His entry had been sudden, He had come out of nothing and nowhere yet He was to take these twelve ordinary men and take them on a journey of a lifetime.

The journey of a lifetime is:
• A walk into the unknown. The children of Israel get ready to cross the Jordan River and Joshua says to them, “Follow the Ark, that you may know the way you shall go for you have not passed this way before” Joshua 3:4 (my paraphrase).
• A walk of faith. It demands that we ignore the sense of sight and follow the sense of faith. It is faith that will take us to the end of the journey
• A walk filled with much adventure. The twelve men went through so many lands and met all sorts of people experiencing mighty moves of God, all in the name of adventure
• A closer walk with God
• A journey of the unusual. Peter is asked to cast his net into the deep for a catch (Luke 5)
• A journey of risks. Reputations are put on the line
• A journey of the supernatural
• A journey of teambuilding. Twelve men with different backgrounds come together to build a great apostolic team
• A journey of self sacrifice. They left houses, families, careers to follow the Great Leader

I believe Jesus Christ is looking for pilgrims who will take the journey with Him to the unknown, to new experiences and encounters with Him, to places undefined, to a walk of a lifetime. The daring will travel this journey as did the twelve. I see in them a bunch of men, experts in their trade, leaving all behind, pursuing a man with nothing to show, a man as ordinary as they into a 3 ˝ year journey with fresh revelation each day. I see a people who take a risk, following a man who defies logic and goes against all ordinary dealings, a man who can change their lives forever.

I believe this journey will:
• Open opportunities for the journeyer
• Show off the power of God
• Will unveil a new character of God
• Will usher the journeyer to a new level
• Bring one closer to their destiny

Ultimately this journey will cause us to experience the things Jesus experienced and enable us to walk closer with heaven here on earth. The question needing an answer is: Are you ready to take on this journey?
