‘Memories’ are like a bouquet of roses that can cheer you up with happy remembrances. Reminders of a cherished relationship, an adventurous vacation, a joyous re union, an achievement in life, a dream come true are all those lovely roses that often cheer and put the smile on a face. But are all memories of pleasant times? What about the small and big failures, the broken relationships, the hurting words that still echo in the ears, the spoilt plans, the misunderstandings and one’s own mistakes and shortcomings? Nobody would like to dwell on these pitfalls or be reminded of them. But the human mind has the uncanny ability to re collect the bad along with the good. Forgetting these not so good memories on purpose works at times but does it completely relieve one of these dark overhanging shadows from the past? Time is a proven healer. A change in location, a new job, a fresh perspective work the magic in re defining goals and getting past those negative emotions that a bad memory evokes on the mind. But, for how long? Even time the healer has a time limit. Those bitter reminders of years ago can flash across in an instant, ruining the now and hereafter.

Living in an age of rapid technological advancement and information explosion, is there a way to permanently erase off the bad memories from the mind? Can Science give a one- time solution to those distasteful experiences that haunt the soul? If there is, human kind can be saved from many an anxious moment. The quest for knowledge and the era of new inventions is yet to come up with software to delete bad experiences. If wiping off the bitter past was as easy as deleting and totally destroying a computer file, how much easier life would be? Will it not keep our mind sharp, our body fit and our soul surging with confidence? Sadly such a discovery is yet to be made and it is doubtful if something of that sort can ever be achieved. Science has gone far to uncover several mysteries and yet some very gaping questions remain unanswered and never will be.

Working with gadgets and gizmos has taught us to contact the manufacturer for any deficient functioning in a device. Only the maker of the appliance is fully capable of setting right any faults as nobody else can know the design and purpose of the equipment as thoroughly as the one who made it in the first place. Likewise, only the person who made us, people can erase the painful memories that destroy and limit our life.

We are all part of creation, though some prefer to believe in the theory of evolution or in other mythical stories on how man came to be, the indelible truth is that everything on earth and in the universe was made by one person, God ...He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him....A common feature through the ages, even today people do not recognize God. The beauties of nature, the unexplainable mysteries that surround us are all the works of a Sovereign Hand. Just that mankind fails to recognize Him does not negate the fact that the world was made by God for His will and pleasure.

There was a time when playing ‘Guess the person’ was a fad with some friends. The game went on in this fashion, one of the group members had to go away for awhile when the others decided upon some important personality. After a period of time, the one who had been set apart would return and by asking just 20 questions, to which the group would answer with a ‘yes’ or a ‘no’, the personality had to be guessed. One particular time, the person selected was none other than the Prime Minister of the country. A very easy guess, everyone thought and when the questioning began, the friend who had been away had guessed up to the point that the person to be identified was the Prime Minister but sadly did not know his name. He was ignorant of even the premier of the country and yet that did not mean that the Prime Minister did not exist nor did it reduce the power and authority of his position. The same is true of God who made the heaven and earth. Man does not recognize God in what he sees around and yet this does not undermine God Himself.

He came to that which was His own, but His own did not receive Him. Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His Name, He gave the right to become children of God – Children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God. Jesus, God’s only son, came to the world created by His Father and yet only a few recognized Him. The earth and all that is in it including mankind belongs to Him and is His own but still there are many who do not recognize Him and remain blinded. This has not made God or Jesus any lower. The privilege of those who received Him because they recognized their Maker in Him is great. They are made Children of God and given a clean chit, a new heart and a life free from painful memories of the past. There is no looking back for them who can discern their Maker and surrender their lives to Him. After all, He created us and He is alone able to set right the flaws in our functioning. He is able to completely and fully erase all those horrid memories that can otherwise ruin our life and prevent us from living life to its fullest. Only those who receive and believe are eligible for this divine, permanent and total release from the past. For them there is no looking back, only looking ahead.
