Scripture Reading: Leviticus 20:26,Psalm 4:3, John 15:18-22, 1 Peter 3:13-17
I will accept you as fragrant incense when I bring you out from the nations and gather you from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will show myself holy among you in the sight of the nations. Ezekiel 20:41 (NIV)
"You're just not a team player. We need someone we can count on to do what's best for the company." With alarming and growing frequency, people of scripturally-based character are subjected to this kind of attack on their commitment to Biblical values and made to feel as if their morality is a character flaw. Their morals and ethics are considered quaint, outdated, inconvenient and unnecessary in an environment where expedience and moral flexibility rules the day. Modern business practices exalt corporate self-interest above all else, increasingly putting Christians in a bind when what the company considers as their best interest contradicts the ethical and godly behavior to which Yahweh calls us to conform.
Committed Christians can take strength from Joshua 1:9, "Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go." (NASB) Look forward to the day when the Lord will lift you up and declare, "Well done, good and faithful servant." (Matthew 25:21 NIV) Yahweh calls His people to remain faithful, even under duress, trusting Him to provide. Corporate executive bosses may not always appreciate your devotion to spiritual purity, but know that Yahweh is pleased when you take a stand and refuse to compromise godly standards. He delights in the fragrance of your witness and will use it to reveal His glory and holiness to everyone around you. Stay your course that you may testify with David, "...that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel." (1 Samuel 17:46b NASB)
Lord, my Jehovah Jireh, I put my trust in you and you alone. I shall not fear what man shall do to me but put my faith in the mercy of your hand. Please strengthen me with Your confidence to remain in Your way when faced with disdain and malice for refusing to compromise that which is good and right in Your sight. Let me be set apart for Your service regardless of the consequences. When I find myself in distress, thank you for hearing me when I cry out to you for rescue. In Jesus' name, Amen.
