"You look beuful mamma” replied my 2 year old boy Mason as he sees me trying on a dress, I have to say..it melted my heart, not just for the compliment, but also at 2 years old he managed to see something beuful in his mamma;)..May he always see that, even when the physical beauty begins to fade( and trust me its getting there;).. more importantly I desire for him to see the beauty within me…Christ’s beauty..I realize as his mother I am setting the stage for the type of woman he will be attracted to and someday call his wife..yea talk about pressure!;)..But I also realize the precious gift that I bestow. And that is to see women for who they are, not just what they appear to be on the outside. We see all to often in society these days, where a woman’s worth is placed solely in her appearance, but its no surprise as the media focuses on this so desperately, and pornography grips men like never before and it grieves me to the core.. Where in the midst of that is a woman? The true woman? What does her character reveal? Where does Christ’s beauty shine through? Makeup and clothes can only last so long, what remains when physical beauty fades? As mother’s of boys that’s what we need to model for our boys, that a woman’s beauty isn’t only skin deep, but goes much deeper than that. We need to pray for God to show us how to be women of strength, compassion, patience, grace and love, but most importantly may he teach us how to be Captivating in a way that draws our husband and children and everyone around us in and closer to Christ. We need to not just tell our boys to find godly women, We need to be that model for them as we are the first godly woman he will love and admire… What they see IN us, will determine what they see IN their future bride.
Lord, I ask you today as a mother of a boys to teach me how to be a godly woman who not only embraces my outward beauty but more importantly my inward beauty, and allows it shine through for your glory, so that my sons will understand what makes a woman complete and that is spending time with you and allowing that relationship to touch and change the lives of those around her. May I be a godly example for my boys and model that of a godly woman, so that when their time comes to search and dig for their precious hidden treasure of a wife, they will know what godly characteristics they are searching for, because they seen them in the first woman they loved and admired..Their Mother.. in your precious name..Amen
