God's Answer to Justice
Glenn A. Hascall

One sin - one fractured law
Guilty - the label I must wear
No amount of good deeds
Will change the blame I bear

Yet a plan was conceived
From the dawn of mankind
One way - and only one
Look elsewhere, you won't find

He willingly carried the sins
Of my past, present, my still-yet-to-come
And His very own body
Was sacrificed for all and for one

And the story I’ve heard for so long
Strikes me fresh and anew
Every part of His death
Is what I should have gone through

It should have been me that was whipped
The piercing should have been mine
It should have been me that was killed
Yet His death was designed

As the perfect redemption
for me and for you
Our filthy slate wiped clean
Our hearts made new

The payment for our rebellion
Was completely and fully paid
When our self same rebellion
On His shoulders was laid

A whip, some harsh fists
A spear, hammer and spike
The words of accusers
That’s what it was like

But He did this for you
For sinners - each one of us
And I’m left in awe
At God’s answer to justice

Weeping - I fall to my knees
“Oh Lord, what can I give?
And deep in my being I seem to hear
“I bore it all that you might live.”

So I will live my life as a thank you
To the One who paid the fee
I’ve accepted His free gift of life
And I eagerly give Him all of me

Glenn, when it came to choosing the Front Page Showcase for this week, this poem was the obvious choice. It is so powerful - this part in particular really hit home ... "And the story I’ve heard for so long Strikes me fresh and anew Every part of His death Is what I should have gone through." It's so very true. May God use your poem this week, as we draw closer to Easter, to draw many hearts closer to Himself. With love, Deb
