I woke up to one of those dreaded phone calls when you hear your child sobbing at the other end and you know in your heart that something is wrong. We all hate those calls in the middle of the night, when the phone rings and you jump up because you know itís not going to be good. It was one of those mornings when I got her call.
My daughter was on the other end of the line, crying. I said, ďWhat is it baby?Ē She said that on her way to work in the storm she had lost control of the car and it had began spinning and spinning. She told me that as she started spinning, she started praying. The car stopped suddenly at the edge of a ditch. She said, ďMom, I donít know how it stopped, I should have been in that ditch.Ē I told her an angel of the Lord had protected her. We stopped right then to pray and thank God for his protection. I then shed my own tears of thankfulness to God for taking care of her.
There was another night when there were icy roads and she was on her way home at 2:00 a.m. It was a back road with ditches that night too. She lost control that night and slid on the ice, just missing the ditch. In this incident, the ditch was so deep that had the car went in to it, people who passed would not even have seen her car. At 2:00 in the morning on a back road there was no traffic anyway. The thought of my child lying in a wrecked car in a ditch where she could not even be seen, in the middle of a cold winterís night, brought me to the realization of how great Godís protection is on our loved ones.
There have been several times when my daughter has been spared by God. She was with her boyfriend and they were 4 wheeling one night. As they were driving, they got lost. She told him to stop because she did not want to go on. She was getting scared. She insisted. Come to find out, ahead of them was a drop off on the ridge they had been climbing.
Another time, they were driving down the road and a deer ran out in front of them, they ran off the road and hit a tree. Godís protection again! They were ok, but the truck was banged up pretty good.
See, I tell you all this for a reason. At the time of writing this story, my child has not given her life back to God yet. She has grown up in church and loves God with all her heart. She knows right from wrong, but has let the things of this world become first in her life. God, as much she loves him, has been put on the back burner. Friends, work, fun, all the things that young people get wrapped up in, have become her way of life.
She knows God has to be put first in her life. She has every intention of getting back to church, getting married, and raising her family in church and in the same lifestyle that she was raised in. The flesh has a hold on her that needs to be broken. I know with everything in me, that she will give her heart back to God wholly, with nothing being able to come between her and her relationship with Him. He has a plan for her life. I was the same way. We have similar stories. I also walked away from God as a teenager and put the world first. God spared my life many times over. I never quit loving Him. I was just deceived into thinking it was ok to live the life of the world. He protected me and I am now obsessed with my Jesus. I know that it will happen for my daughter and that is why God is protecting her life.
So when I tell about the protection God has placed on my daughter. It comes from a mother who knows how merciful God is. Who knows that if His divine hand had not intervened, at those times in her life, she might not have made it to heaven? It is more than just a natural protection to me. To think my baby could be lying in a casket and God protected her so that she can be on the streets of gold some day, is an awakening to my spirit.
If we could only understand the supernatural realm that God works in on our behalf. I do not believe that we would be the same. If we could be shown the (other outcome) on a big screen TV of our life, I donít think we would be sitting by and just living life. We would be bold, aggressive, on fire, desiring to let people know who God is and what He is capable of. We would not be able to sit down in church when we are in the presence of an almighty God who delivers us in so many ways that we can never imagine.
If you were in a situation where your life was hanging in the balance and a hero came on the scene and saved you, you would tell everyone. It might make it to the newspaper or even the evening news. The hero would be praised and exalted for saving your life.
Itís the same with Jesus! He does it everyday. He already saved our lives on the cross. We just have to accept Him as Lord and Savior! He became our hero. He has His hand in every area of our lives and when little things happen, like whew, I barely missed that car, or wow, that huge heavy thing could have fallen right on me, or man I sure got lucky today cause this or that didnít happen. There is no such thing as luck. There is only the hand of God.
So I am giving Him all the glory for the protection on my family, knowing that it is only by His divine hand that these wonderful things happen. I write my stories, praying that as people read them there will be a change in the way they think, and the way they love on God. Hoping that a heart will be drawn to the Lord through something I might write.
God loves you! Let him be first in your life! Someday it will be revealed all the incredible and miraculous things He has done for you. Show Him the love back that He so deserves and let Him lead and guide you and fulfill the plans He has for your lives. God Bless You All!
