Can I describe the panoramic beauty
Rolled out before my open wondering eyes?
To find such words – aah! Such a pleasant duty
To share the scene that now before me lies,
Unaltered by the years, timeless and pure,
And shared by many who have gone before.
Rolling and rising hills, verdant and glowing,
Stand like a fortress dressed in shades of green.
Some dark and forested, their richness showing
As jewels of jade upon this pleasant scene.
The gentle grassy slopes fill in the spaces,
Aah! Picture of delight in pleasant places.
The sheep are grazing, cattle gently lowing,
Content in pasture plenteous and fair,
The river finds its pathway, winding, flowing,
Saluting trees and flowers that gather there.
While high above the fluffy clouds pass by,
A myriad of colours fill the sky.
The beams of sunlight highlighting the hillside
Are quick receding as the night draws near,
The day is past, and soon this vista will hide
For a brief time, until the morn is here.
The twinkling lights say ‘Night is on its way’ –
I’ll joy in you again with a new day.
O great Creator, all your gifts before me
Are one small taste of love so freely shown,
Before this night should end, I now would thank Thee
For every perfect gift that I have known.
Praise be to God for beauty so displayed,
Praise me to Christ for all that He has made.

Margaret...this is beautiful. Your descriptions were so good that I could see what you were seeing! I especially liked the ambiance that I sensed as the twinkling night lights announced night time.
Did you mean to say Praise "be" to Christ? :)
Whoops - sorry Holly! Yes, its meant to me
'Praise BE to Christ'
- I would love you to have seen the scene last week - it was truly breathtaking! Thanks for your comment.
