Darkness moved over the horizon
Covering the earth, land and sky
The sons of Adam tremble
Wondering where Zeus, Poseidon, Hades are
Zeus struck with his lightning bolt
Poseidon moved the waves
Hades erupted and lava flowed
But darkness remained-
Still and palpable
The priest stood before the altar
The sacrificial lamb dripping 'haeme'
Fire burned beneath the nest of sticks
Smoke rose ever-and-anon from the incense
'O! Thou maker of the earth and sky'
'Where hast thou hid thy lovely face?'
'The lightning has not revealed thy countenance,
neither has the waves brought you.'
The furious darkness spewed more umbra
As if enraged by the lightning bolt
It rose above the crests,
'downing' it with its creepy tentacles
'Olodumare' rode upon the heights of darkness
Safely hidden yet revealed
His rainbow-crowned throne,
Enclosed at its core
He sits poised in grace
The serenity a sharp contrast
To the raging darkness
He waits and watches patiently
To see if there's any
Who would see the treasure in darkness
