She spun her web so you could see the beauty in the silk
She hoped you’d find some comfort like the babe with mothers’ milk
She sang a song so soothing that your eyes did shudder so
You scarce could hold them open to your slumber lumbered low
You lie and dream of smooth and flowing ribbons ‘gainst your skin
Like warm and glowing sunshine, slowly breathed its essence in
Enveloped; yes, surrounded it caressed you quietly
Embraced the sheer quintessence of your physicality
Awakened from your slumber now and dreadfully aware
Her presence darkly looming in the shadows over there
“Too late my friend…” the spider spoke, unspoken revelry
“Too late, indeed my precious one… it’s much too late for thee.”
